New Safety Notice at Work

Recommended Posts

I have three signalboxes and the most requested item that nearly all the signallers who visit say they would like me to install in their box is the 'off' switch. One ordinary switch turns on the power in one box that causes a cascade of events that causes the whole system to liven up within a few seconds. Turning this switch off causes the whole thing to shut down. Dead handy when you want a lunch break eh?

James, why at Gylberdyke, do you need to keep calm and send 3-5? Years ago, I spent six years there, it was then still "Four Roads" and nothing exciting ever happened. In the "New Century" am I missing something? Best Wishes, and Get that Distant Off, Mick.

PS, how is your model of Botanic box comming on?

And the Yank wants to know: What's 3-5 mean in bell code?

A very easy one to remember - 3-5 is the cancelling signal as you'll no doubt have found by now from Ian's link, remember it as 'Not going' (3 letters, then 5). Compared to that the 'Last train incorrectly described' bell signal is 5-3, you remember that one as 'wrong one' (5 letters, then 3); both were covered by, e.g, the old AB Regulation 2

Send 3-5d ?..........Are we going to a dance ?

That should be "Send 3/4, were going to a dance"

Another OT signal failure I like is:

Admiralty to Darling: PROCEED UTMOST DESPATCH

Darling to Admiralty: PROCEED UTMOST DESPATCH WHERE

Admiralty to Darling: PROCEED UTMOST DESPATCH ADEN

Darling to Admiralty: AM AT ADEN
