jcredfer
Very well organised to get the preservation groups to send those locos to be picture at Ewer St, must have taken lots of persuasion to get them to agree to the advertising value for them. A great idea to have the pictures for helping to get more reality for the model too. I'm sure you have the ability to copy the many features shown there, now there is a more up-to-date information for you. I am really looking forward to seeing the layout improvements follow as many parts of the recently pictured Scene as may be possible. Terrific organisation Adrian, I bow down to your enthusiasm and organisational abilities. Kind regards "Green Gilled" Julian

RMweb Gold Popular Post westerhamstation Posted January 27, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 27, 2019 A start has been made on some of the plate girder bridges that surround Ewer Street, I have made three different types so far, the basic construction is the same for all of them, I have only shown the construction of one which is of a bow top type. these bridges all fit in between the tops of the arches that are a feature of the area. Construction is from 2mm grey board and styrene strip, with some slaters plasticard rivets for the detail, further painting and weathering is still to be done. Some pictures of progress so far. All the best Adrian. 23 1

jcredfer
Blimey, that's advanced, I can't even find the spell-checker. Regards Julian
RMweb Gold westerhamstation Posted February 5, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 5, 2019 (edited) Hi Julian, the spell checker is something that would be nice if i could ever find it, at the moment i am struggling with the new site, whilst understanding the need to update and progress with the site for the future for me it's like coming home from a day out and being greeted by Mrs W Station with the dreaded words while you have been out I have been and tidied up in the garage where you keep your railway and tools and have put everything away, I hope you are pleased . Where has the counter gone that tells me how many views I have had, it was about 270,000 is it in a draw somewhere with my soldering iron and box of cogs. All the best my brain hurts now, confused of Westerham. Edited February 6, 2019 by westerhamstation missed word 3 1
jcredfer
My mouse was just wandering, as lonely as a King, [should have been a Castle, but it didn't rhyme] I hovered on my avatar, It wasn't quite your wish for news, but found a content counter. Which only gave the views. Grief, I must be older than I thought - why didn't you lot let me know??? Regards Julian 1
RMweb Gold ChrisN Posted February 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 6, 2019 The spell checker is just there when you type a reply. You do not seem to be able to change it to something useful, like proper English. We will have everyone writing in American if we are not careful

We will have everyone writing in American if we are not careful Hi Chris, I think you'll find the spellchecker is a function of your browser, rather than being a part of the forum software. It is possible to download a British English dictionary for it. Cheers, Al. 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post westerhamstation Posted February 7, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 7, 2019 Before the days of tv advertising the best way of informing people about your products was the use of posters on hoardings/billboards, these were changed very regularly with space on the prime sites booked months in advance. I can still remember the man up a ladder in all weathers slapping up the posters. The posters that he put up, had to be collated very carefully at the printers as the bill poster would not sort them out, he would just slap them up not knowing what the finished sign looked like till he got off of his ladder. Hoardings came in a wide range of sizes up to 96 sheet size. I have made some hoardings for the walls around Ewer Street from thin card, the method used is simple, mark out the required inner size to take the poster on the white card, cut this out leaving a wide border, glue this to the sheet of card that will form the back board, making sure that the adhesive goes right to the edges of the inside, leave to dry, then with a sharp knife cut the outside frame this can be as narrow or as wide as you wish, by doing it this way you are not trying to cut and glue a spindly frame. Some pictures of the construction. All the best Adrian. 12 1 3
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted February 7, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 7, 2019 Nice job Bill, oh I'm sorry, I meant Adrian... Dunno if you've come across this site, very useful for vintage posters: https://www.iposters.co.uk/shop-by-product-type/posters/vintage-posters/vintage-advertising-posters You can save the thumbnails to print out at 00 scale, I don't think that constitutes a breach of copyright. calvin Streeting
copyright should be about 70years ish https://www.copyrightaid.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1770 so most should be ok.. and anyway they get free (small) advertising.. or just google fake ones. i like to put one or two silly inkeeping ones, to catch people out. like https://scarfolk.blogspot.com/ but older for my layout ) 1 1
