I’ve altered the tunnel mouth template by reducing the opening height.

The tree has been pinched from smugglers retreat but a new one has been commissioned for this spot.

Ive also been adding bushes and taller grasses to transform the grass areas from lawn to scrub

Certainly was general GW practice to have shorter spacing between the last two sleepers of each panel, and the chairs of the last sleeper were pretty much in contact with the fishplates to prevent rail creep.

not sure if this location had any special features.

Re the GW practice you may well already be aware of this diagram but I thought it may be of future use when laying trackwork

That's rather an old pattern 9' sleepers and 30' rails I would of thought would of been long gone on a BR  main line.

Hi Peter,

I'm sure that you're quite correct, I only placed it here as an indication to show the shorter spacings at the connection points ( which may also have changed in BR days ).

That said it may be of use prior to that later period,

Cool pics, thanks for that. Lydhym Manor in black now! Can't wait till June when I'll be in Paignton again.

(after a 21 year break...)

No paddling today! A little brisk for that.

One thing I did notice whilst walking down the wall yesterday was how the colour of the Cliffs change in the different light,  it was beautiful blue when we set off off but quite over cast by the time we arrived in Dawlish.

Back home now and the slaters sheets have arrived so these have been cut and glued in place plus the first ferns have sprouted up.
