RMweb Gold Popular Post Ian Hargrave Posted December 23, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 23, 2021 A chance in a quiet moment to wish Robin and all your ANTB followers a happy and stress free Christmas and with a hope that the coming year will provide a happier experience than its predecessor.( Well,we have the Manors to look forward to ,have we not ? ) I’d also like the thank you all for your kind support in helping through the darkest days of my life. You will have little idea of the joy and comfort reading and exchanging posts has been seen from the confines of a hospital bed in a pretty lousy state for just over a couple of months .It kept me sane and connected. It still does and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve a long road to travel before I reach something approaching full fitness. I have now to do this on my own . Some of you may know that my wife of some 55 years died after a battle with pancreatic cancer in March. Thank goodness I was healthy enough then to have the strength to care for her at home until she passed. Please do not feel downhearted or sad. I’m grateful to still have life to make of it what I can. KBO. Enjoy your railway of whatever shape, size or scale……remembering that happiness begins with the numbers 78xx. RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted December 23, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 23, 2021 A heads up on a review by @AY Mod of the Dapol prairie in the latest, February 22, issue of BRM. He favours it over the Hornby model and says the weighty feel, decoration, performance and a lower rrp gets it for him. Excellent photos including one of the cab without the roof, a bit clearer than mine. 2 1 10

I had to pack in 70+ gm of lead to my Hornby prairies before they would even think about performing. My Dapol Prairie arrived just in time for Christmas. Straight off it ran pretty well.....certainly nothing like the stalling Sam had. Once I added a Zimo chip (which was so simple) it runs very smoothly above a scale 8mph . I still think I will do the mod to the rear pony truck though. No tank separation and the GWR green livery looks good. By chance, its on its side next to the Bachmann 94xx and to my dodgy eyes there is hardly any colour difference. I am looking forward to seeing your war time black version. I do hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas despite everyting and once again so many thanks for hosting ANTB......I would be lost without it, 12 1 1 1

Congratulations on your Granby winning the best photo in this month's BRM through the lens feature. I'm also glad you have a good prairie.

Anyone is welcome to suggest items for 2022 (but please do so on The Quirky Poll 2021 thread rather than here). Brian 2
