Here's a picture of a CSX Transportation train in Newark, New Jersey. The train is running over Newark Bay. The Downtown Manhattan(New York City) skyline is in the background.

That is a pretty epic picture there.  It shows the scale of US railroads, but that they are still small by the massive skylines of the major cities over there.  Good find and thanks for sharing, it would make a very good wall picture for sure! Cheers

I love the Maple Leaf picture too. The photography as a knack for sure.

Does it snow in the Los Angeles metropolitan area? YES, IT DOES! Here's a couple of pictures of a Metrolink commuter train in suburban Acton, California. Acton is a desert community along the Antelope Valley Freeway(California State Route 14, CA-14, or "The 14") between Los Angeles and Lancaster/Palmdale. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you!

But a great photo, set in the landscape is how the railway appears much of the time and difficult to recreate in model form due to the amount of space required.

Thanks for posting.

Agreed, though my first thought on seeing the photo was that this particular shot could be recreated - on a shelf layout with a good photo backscene?  Just a thought, Keith.

Here's a 1996 picture of a Southern Pacific Railroad train in Pando, Colorado. The train is running down a steep 3% grade on the western slope of Tennessee Pass towards Minturn and Salt Lake City. Pando is about 100 road-miles(160 road-kilometers) west of Denver.

The five unit head end lash-up may appear to be more power than the train might need (it’s not that long by modern standards), but I note from the caption that two of the units are helpers to assist with downhill braking - given the 3% grade noted by Wendell that makes sense.

Here's a new picture of a new and improved CPKC Railway train in Dallas, Texas. The military train is heading eastbound to the yard in suburban Wylie. The Downtown Dallas skyline is in the background.

And what struck me with this one was how clean all the locos are!  Interesting modellers’ note.  Thanks as always, Keith.

Those Kansas City Southern "Southern Belle" locomotives look very nice with the red, yellow, and black coloring. A lot of us railroad fans are waiting for the CPKC to decide what official color scheme they want to use long term for their locomotives. I am guessing the CPKC will use a simple color combination of red and white since the Canadian Pacific Railway bought out the Kansas City Southern Railway.
