Have decided that the area for Sonera sidings was not really long enough or wide enough for what I wanted so I have extended the area nearest Sonera avenue bridge.

Here's a few pics. The area in green is the original area for the Sonera sidings. The area in plain plywood is the extended area. It means that the sidings have gone from one long and two short only long enough to hold a 66 each in the short ones and three in the long siding. To four sidings the original long one. Two middle ones long enough to hold a tmd shed which will be able to fit four class 70's or two 158 dmu's then the outside lane furthest from the brewery which should easily hold s couple of 66's

The two centre lane will be embedded in 'concrete' (painted polyfilla). This will form base for the tmd shed to fit on.

Must remember to get some superfine filler at screw fix later.

Decided as a result of wanting to put the inspection pit in to buy a router. So gonna route out the channel needed for the inspection pit kit using that. May even use it to do the second shed lane and have s go a scratch building second pit lane. Not sure yet. Also gonna use router to create a pond on the layout too.

Wil post pics of progress as soon as I can.

So here are some pictures of the installation of the inspection pit.

First off marked up line of where everything was to end up

post-17016-0-45283100-1421158928_thumb.jpg

Then some photos of the resultant channel. I used my Bosch plunge router with a straight cut 12.7mm bit and did three passes to get to a depth of 10mm

I then test fit the inspection pit in place and then glued down with bostik all purpose. After the pics were taken I weighted it in place using my metal weights to ensure a good bond.

After fixing in place I have put the track in surrounding the pit. To the left end of the pit I have laid the track over a routed section and glued in place do that once fully dry I'll be able to cut out the sleepers and scratch build an extension to the inspection pit.

Realy moving along well here Phil.. :senile:

Progress is going pretty well. It means progress on the n gauge is pretty non-existant atm.

Decided to scratch build the extension to the inspection pit as I recently got some white plastic and 30thou for another project (yard signs) more details to follow in a future post on that project. So gonna let glue set cut out sleepers and line the routed section wil plasticsrd painted with 'concrete' paint and the le then the inspection pit.

Decided after much thought to only make one lane an inspection pit one and keep the other one as just a normal shed lane.

Been browsing RMWeb this morning and have discovered a great feed about railways in Cornwall today.

The link below is for the most recent page as of today but if you go back several pages there are some great pictures from a recent possession in the St Ives branch by a pair of colas 70's

video 3 - Colas class 66 passes through banbury with 15 autoballasters. The a GBRF coal train passes through in the opposite direction. Then an Arriva CrossCountry voyager arrives at Banbury. This is then followed by DB Schenker class 67 Keith Heller on push-pull service. Both trains then depart

I was very honoured yesterday to have a whole day operating Loch Tat for the Ivanhoe Model Railway Society. It was a brilliant day. With brilliant fun people. On Saturday before being offered the opportunity to help with the running of the layout I took some videos and photos. Here r the videos of the layout.

Video 1- GBRF I asses through Loch Tat with autoballasters followed by 66121 with mega boxes which waits in the station for 66111 to pass through in the opposite direction. 66121 then leaves passing the distillery. 67002 then enters with a rake of sea cows.

Video 2 - Dutch liveried class 37 leaves loch Tat passing the distillery with a rake of ttas then arriving in the opposite direction 37670 arrives with a rake of railtrack autoballasters. During its arrival a railtrack tamper moves from the heads hunt into the yard. 37670 is followed in by 67026 on a short van rake bound for the distillery sidings. Then arriving is a 156 which gets signal checked at the home signal waiting for the 67 to reverse into the distillery sidings. The 156 then enters the station.

Video 3 - 37174 leaves Loch Tat with a mixed wagon rake. Arriving in the opposite Direction is a DRS class 57 with a two wagon nuclear flask train. Next whilst a railtour waited in the station the scott wil sleeper passes through 'wrong platform' lead by ews managers 67 tailed by another ews 67. Ews 66098 then arrives past the distillery with a long rake of mixed freight including China clay tanks. The doubleheader railtour then departs from Loch Tat.

Video 4 - Stobart liveried class 66 leaves Loch Tat with the Stobart express. Following it into Loch Tat is a GBRF 66 on an Autoballaster train. This waits in the station to allow a doubleheaded 156 to enter the station. 66714 with the autoballasters then departs. 66111 then returns to loch tat with a long rake of mixed wagons this waits in the station for an ews 66 to arrive off the single line from the opposite direction. Whilst these two trains wait in the station the Freightliner 66 in the yard sidings pulls forward into the heads hunt with a rake of green pna wagons.

Video 5 - 66014 leaves past the distillery with a mixed rake of wagons. 37401 in large logo livery then enters past the distillery with an empty rake of timber wagons. Then departing from Loch Tat as the37 has cleared the single line is 55002 KYOLI on a long rake of alcan tanks. Freightliner 66 with its rake of green pms wagons. Royal 67 then leaves past the distillery with a partly full rake of timber wagons. A regional railways liveried 37 with a mixed rake of mk1s both intercity and regional railways liveried.

havealso started a bit of work on the base of the area that'll become the tmd shed area. i have ballasted loosely laid out the rough outline of the tmd shed base area using trimmed coffee stirrer sticks. the ballast was then glued in place using the standard mix whixh has dried to hold the sticks in place. i plan to use superfine filler to create a solid concrete base. paint it with concrete colour to get the right effect. i will then remove the sticks and fill in the gap with more ballast
