67018 in warrington bank quay, not seen this one about for a while and it’s been a good 5 years since I last drove it too

Some from last night, met the NMT in Paddington, rode it to Didcot then took it from there back to derby via banbury, Landor st, nuneaton and Leicester

Some from today, had a couple of days class 67 training for another driver

 

Had a couple of runs out, some pics from today

 

Got em all set up, knuckle couplings sorted, multied up then discovered we were just taking one loco so had to uncouple and reset the buffers etc

West coast 33 and 37 combo, 57601 was also in the station as were 2 DRS 37s!

 

Then once back in derby I got the loco stables and caught the train home

On a different subject will you be driving the 60 at the svr diesel gala next week

They aren’t bringing the 60 anymore as it’s needed somewhere else. They are now sending a 56 in its place which works out well as the 56 that was going has pulled out.

Love the night before and next morning comparison. Shows plenty of movements occur in the evening and overnight.

 

Always love going past Basford Hall when going up to see my parents in Manchester as it reminds me of spotting days in Crewe and the days when there were lots of busy massive yards.

Only one pic from last night, logs to carlisle, 2 hours late into crewe and diverted via Cannock after someone over the weekend put a padlock on the fuel plant at chirk and no one could get into it to fuel the loco, they got in in the end after another driver arrived with a spare key!

After leaving the train in Kingmoor it was off to the station for a train south, while I was there this came through heading to dalston

 

 

I was then asked to work a diverted 6C88 back to Basford hall from preston which was a pair of 56s with a rail delivery train

 

And uncoupled ready to stable

 

And that’s yer lot for today

Stokesay Castle, just south of Craven Arms looking north, on the "North & West" route between Shrewsbury at Newport. By the looks of the wagons and the traction, I'd guess around the early 90's as a date.

I had a feeling about the castle but it looked different from that angle. Still, nice to know someone else has taste and likes Colas locos.

DoooH As Jim has pointed out the locos are in nothing like Colas livery.

That picture is a long long time before Colas even existed (on the railway in this country)!

 

Anyway went past the same place today with some Colas locos as it happens

 

Now where did I leave my loco in the parking lot

 

Into the station at crewe

 

 

And away I went to Newport but got as far as nantwich to find the obstacle deflector barrier crossings booms going up and down, spoke to the box who said it was detecting an obstacle on the crossing, went down to have a look only to find one of the detector modules in the 6ft all smashed up, bent it back into position and luckily he managed to get a clear indication to allow the barriers to stay down and pull the signal off, quite how it got smashed I don’t know and the train 5 mins in front got through without issue!

 

So off I went only to get to craven arms and be put in the loop due to cows on the line between Ludlow and Wooferton, sat there for an hour or so while it was resolved and a few passenger trains went by

And away to maindee jn where we turned back and recorded northbound, stopped in Hereford to drop my route conductor off and wait for a Holyhead train to depart

 

And into crewe where I got off on the loop next to Lnwr

 

 

And off it went to derby

Change of plan, should have been down the cambrian but ended up on the heart of wales line

And away to the heart of wales, did something I’ve never done before, a ballast drop under TW1 which basically means there is no possession and the train runs under normal working arrangements, I have the token as normal which obviously prevents other movements in that section

We dropped in a few places, finishing on llangynllo bank and heading back from there, Knighton again on the return

 

Craven arms

 

And back into Basford hall, locos stabled with the 97s

 

 

90050 looking worse for wear

 

Which appears to have been joined by 86251 in the last few days

 

And that’s that, should be back down the HOW tonight, or possibly a train out of Toton

That 86 Came out of Long Marston last week on a low loader.

 

It went past the bottom of my garden!
