RMweb Premium 45156 Posted December 19, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 19, 2021 Hi Jim, The subway used to be even better when the original trains ran - electrified from cable hauled, when there was the gripper car, and a trailer. They were only painted on one side, as the other side never got seen by the travelling public - and the smell - ah yes a slightly dank, mushroomy smell from the fungus growing in the tunnel walls. Last time I visited Glasgow (some years ago) that smell was still present.
RMweb Gold big jim Posted December 19, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 19, 2021 (edited) Yeah, saw the old subway setup in the museum with the cables, typical Scotsman though, saving on paint! RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted December 21, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 21, 2021 Some from today, Donnington job caught the train from bescot where the NMT went through (driven by one of my ex colas trainees!) Walked up to landor st, saltley box is now just a memory 66792 86101 in basford hall Wellington, we were routed through the platform and the signaller pulled off for the mainline instead of the branch to Donnington so I had to wait while the signal and route reset And into Donnington Back through basford hall so grabbed a piccie while I changed the points and into bescot
