Trent Valley Show 15th June 2013

Well, that's it for another year.

A huge thanks to everybody that was involved in any way - you all helped to make it a success.

Judging by the feebback at the show, everybody enjoyed it.

Having had a chance to count the pennies left over after all the expenditure, we have enough to pay for the venue and the insurance (the two main items) for next year.

So, pencil Saturday 14th June 2014 in your diary......

Nick

Glad things worked out financially. Had a cracking Fri night / Sat on my first TVNAM and looking fwd to next year already

Well done Nick

Glad to here enough was made to cover next year's show. I'll get my thinking cap on!

Good to meet new folks and old friends. Good to finally meet Jack/Shortliner. Thanks to all the visitors who stopped by and gave very kind comments!

Regards to all

Thanks for another great show Nick and Chris, and thanks for the hospitality, (and the raffle prize- I'll try not to win next year!)

It was good to meet up with Shortliner and many other friends again.

Take a good break (and a large tot!)

Cheers

Dave

Really enjoyed being at the show today. Many thanks to Nick and the crew, it was good to put some names to faces on here. It was great to see Dave Long and Colin W again, and at last to have the opportunity to meet Jack (Shortliner). Roll on next year. Was blown away by Galatia and Industry Avenue, plenty of inspiration. Top of the Yard seemed pretty feeble compared to some of the more substantial exhibits, will come up with something a bit bigger next year if Nick will have me back :-). Off to get some shut-eye.

Some pictures from the show. My apologies to the people in the other room as I didn't get any photos - I can only assume that someone demanded my attention elsewhere.

By the way, the number of photos of each layout is not a reflection of the quality of the layout - more a reflection on the quality of the pictures I took!

Back in the land of the Northern Haggis - 8 hours door to door including re-fuel stops and visiting toilet.- big hold-up on M6 northbound due to huge wide slow moving load and it attendant constabulary travelling at around 10 mph - some sort of transformer I think - one of the pushme-pullyou low loaders with and enormous number of wheels under the bit in the middle!

Many interested visitors at TVNAM? Nice turn out?

Best, Pete.

Yes, Pete.

We had a good turnout although it was a little bit down on numbers compared to last year. All the feedback very positive so I must be doing something right!

Already 13 provisional layouts for next year plus 3 traders.

I have a heap of photos which have been downloaded to the computer - I'll try to get them tidied and on the thread tomorrow - somehow I  succesfully forgot to take any of Sin City - I know some of the visitors took photos - so if you have taken them - please upload them'

Dave - I have a note re the Eagles but they may take a short while

Tried uploading a bunch but things went boom. Will try again via Photobucket tomorrow.

Apart from feeling like semi-microwaved death yesterday, I had a great time. Well done to Nick and his understaffed "team". June 14 circled for next year.

I too greatly enjoyed it, I'm glad I made the effort to introduce myself a bit more this year. I thought the layouts were even better this year, but I was a bit disappointed that I didn't find anything I wanted to buy, apart from some raffle tickets. However after confirming that I did want to go the Lenz route for a DCC upgrade (thanks Martin for letting me have a test drive) it has meant that I had more money to spend on the controller, so every cloud etc

I've been spurred on to get some sort of layout started, which mainly involves removing half a ton of rubble from the cellar, but needs must!

Nick

Well done again for a excellent show, some cracking layouts and good trade, nice to put faces to a few names on here, glad it's on next year.

Unlike most of you i witness the most rarest of events(don't think it's happened before) first Roger N buying a round of drinks(Chris photo) and the photo of Roger operating his own layout

post-13979-0-90494500-1371459093_thumb.jpg

taken before we went to the pub(he was smiling,or maybe it was wind) though you can't tell with those yorkshire blokes they give now't away.

Will have a look through my photo's, but most of the layouts seemed to have been covered, and those yellow walls send your camera metering all over the place.

See you all next year,if not before.

Those of you that came on Saturday would possibly have noticed the flags on the walls.

There was another flag which wasn't put up on the wall but we can't find it but was definitely present at the show. It is an embossed full size stars and stripes with velcro on the back. It belongs to Chris Gilbert and he obtained it from the state capitol in Madisaon, Wisconsin and it has a certain sentimental value to him.

I have e-mailed all the aprticipants (I think) but nobody seems to know where it went.

If anybody does have any ideas, please let us know.

Thanks.

If you look at the video, you will also see him actually moving as he operates the layout - that proves Ray's photo was not posed!!

Thanks for organising the show Nick, I enjoyed my day out with Menasha - hard at work in the fiddle yard, a very onerous job, I had to put my feet up for half an hour after each 'fiddle'. Nice to meet people and put faces to names (especially Shortliner Jack).  Hopefully be back again next year (with a small layout Nick as discussed?).

And a big thankyou to the photographers of Roger N... If it's OK I will post these on the club notice board so that all the ugly rumours can now be quelled once and for all.

I also failed to purchase anything (except a bacon butty) despite trying quite hard.  Mind you, I have that much 'stuff' hoarded away that it's probably all for the best.
