RMweb Gold RedgateModels Posted April 27, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2013 I know I'm going to regret this, but does anyone make a kit for this beastie? cheers Ian
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted April 27, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2013 I'm not the best person to answer that, but am aware of a rumour - it really isn't more than that - that a particularly entrepreneurial shop in the far SW may have been looking closely at the railmotor while it was in their county. Adding 2 and 2 suggests there is a chance of an RTR version some time in the future. Of course, if there is a kit, and you start building it, then the rumour above will undoubtedly turn out to be true!
RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted April 27, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2013 You could always ask someone who's a member of the O gauge guild to look for you on their traders list.
RMweb Gold RedgateModels Posted April 27, 2013 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2013 in O gauge?

Miss Prism
In 7mm, I believe the only SRM kit currently available is the Scorpio one, but this is for a shorter 59'6" diagram Q.
RMweb Gold RedgateModels Posted April 27, 2013 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2013 That'll save me some money then ......... trouble is, I really think one would be great on Fourgig, way better than a poxy "Bug" (sorry for all you 1st generation DMU fans out there )
RMweb Gold wenlock Posted April 28, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 28, 2013 Blacksmith models have been promising one for a couple of years now, it was supposed to be released to coincide with the real thing being in steam at Didcot. I'm not sure what happened, I think they had some test etches on display at Telford a couple of years ago.
RMweb Premium southern42 Posted April 28, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 28, 2013 GWR 70' steam railmotor car kit in 0 gauge is listed on the Kemilway website (£180) http://www.kemilway.com/peter-k.html 4mm also listed but out of stock. Not sure if the website is up to date but worth a look. Polly
Miss Prism
Didn't know the Kemilway one had been made available in 7mm. It's an early depiction (with the 'open the cabside windows to get to the filler') of a suburban type (diagram K/K1 I think).
RMweb Gold RedgateModels Posted April 29, 2013 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 29, 2013 Yes, I'd found the Kemilway one, but it's not the same thing. I'd only be tempted to a #93 thanks anyway
Guest Isambarduk
I thought Scorpio now also offer a 70', although I'm not sure that it is an R. They have no website but contact is: scorpio7uk@excite.com according to Gauge 0 Guild website scorpiomodels@hotmail.co.uk according to advert in G0G Gazette tel 01633 279897 so it might be worth asking. Horsetan
UPDATE: Worsley Works have just brought out a 4mm etch for SRM no.93 - Click here May be worth asking them if they would consider producing the same thing in 7mm scale.

81A Oldoak
Hmmm. An interesting idea. This appears to be a feasible project in mass-produced RTR if there is demand for up to a 1,000 pieces. We produced an On30 steam railmotor modelled on the Australian Coffee Pot, which is sold out apart from a few with Paul Martin at NG Trains. Motorising would not be difficult and valve gear is not too demanding as the Coffee Pot showed. The big question is how many could be sold and what price would the market stand? MarcD
I have just been sent one of Scorpio's GWR motor bogies to build, for a client. Looks ok but I will no more shortly when I get to build it. I if goes ok then I might build a batch up for those people who are interested.

Andrew Young
Like Lionheart have found with the Autocoach, I wonder whether the shorter railmotor would be more viable as an rtr product than the seventy footers such as No 93? Cheers, Andrew
switcher 1
Micro/small layout builders are more likely to want the smaller version of everything; & there are more micro/small layouts being built than bigger layouts, owing to a general lack of space available to people these days
Horsetan
GWR 70' steam railmotor car kit in 0 gauge is listed on the Kemilway website (£180) http://www.kemilway.com/peter-k.html 4mm also listed but out of stock. Not sure if the website is up to date.... 4mm etchings set showing, priced at £48, though how long they would take to deliver is anyone's guess.
