Had a lovely day at the show today, its great seeing people show interest and asking lots of good questions. I think it went down well.

Nice to see Rmwebbers too, RSLR, Treggyman, Ray, D820.

St.clemens ran very smoothly once the track was clean (haha thanks Bill your a star)

No issues and the point rodding proved very tough even in the heat.

I learned alot today and thanks to everyone for taking the time to chat.

All in all a productive day, a few goodies bought today too a morris AA van with flashing light, presflow wagons and small nosed plyers.

All the best

Jack

Hi Jack,

Sounds like you had a good show by all accounts. :D

Although they may not be the best of photographs they show the layout off nicely.  The scenics work really well and what could be better than a Pannier on a branch passenger? :)

Hope someone will post a few more pictures of St Clemens as well.

Have a good tomorrow.

Cheers,

Mark

thankyou Mark thats very kind...My photography skills make me laugh...! :dancer:

The pannier drew alot of attention lots of comments about its ultra smooth "run rounds" needs irons and lamps to complete.

yeah a few people from Rmweb took pictures of the layout with a decent camera so fingers crossed. its always nice to see other peoples angles of observation.

Thanks again...

Jack. :sungum:

Hi Jack,

Good to meet and speak to you today, really nice layout mate! Liked St Clemens allot, China clay train looks the part.
Think my dad likes the halt. I'll see you again tomorrow for more branchline action! Some more of the diesels will probably invade again :)
Here's a few pics, I'll take some more interesting ones tomorrow.

Hi Jack

Good to see you & you're layout performing well

Natural light always helps but the base layout is the important bit & it's looking good....

Hopefully I shall have a bit more time tomorrow to see it properly...

Anyway a few snapshots.....

Well all unpacked from the car after a brilliant weekend. It was great fun

Although tired now.

St.clemens did me proud but what i find funny about exhibiting is everything runs fabulous until someone gets the camera out!! Then its prod and poke.

Now...i know have a list of things needed to be done on the layout, including a facelift on the a bit of the scenics (to make it into a road bridge) relay the track on the halt section and generally have a tidy up.

Provisionally booked for a show near christmas which is nice.

Thanks to everyone and the Hayle club for warm hospitality.

And thanks Nigel for the invitation in the first place, cheers mate was good to finally meet you.

Cheers for now

Jack

Oh nearly forgot Treggyman and RSLR took more pictures thank goodness.

Cheers Bill and Reece.

Also got myself a BR green Bachmann 08 to shunt around with.

Hi Jack

Good to see you had an enjoyable show....

Sadly only a couple of the pictures I took today were any good.....It's all very well having a nice camera but it helps if you know how to use it.....I mainly use mine for outdoor shots & my inside shots can be poor

As far as your stock goes ,it all ran well when I looked....

& I'm sure your 08 will run as well as your Pannier did.

One good running loco is far better than a stud of pretty ones that don't work properly

Just had athought...As.your layout ran faultlessly while I was trying to photo it perhaps it was reverse gremlins & I should have been pushing & prodding my camera!!!!!

Look forward to seeing you again soon & good luck with StAgnes

Cheers Bill

Hi Bill thanks for posting the pictures up. Haha! Much better than mine i normally get half the sky and the back end of the loco in the dark.

Yes look forward to seeing you and penhallick/creedyford again.

And thanks, St.Agnes should resume again soon.

All the best enjoy your fizzy alcoholic beverages lol.

St Clemens Halt is a request stop, a clear should be made to the driver of an aproching train or a member of staff should you wish to board.

Right a little update for today. The scratchbuilt road bridge is in place, made from the random stone platicard range.

Platform lights will be replaced with working lights (12v) i believe.

The van with the flashing light is in place on the bridge as is a Gas Co van in the yard (no lights on that one).

Im in the process of replacing the track on the halt section for C&L handbuilt. This will give a more finescale feel.

This will also get rid of the nasty looking code 100 peco track. No intention to replcace the main station area code 100 as its mainly covered in weeds. So not as obvious.

Well lots to keep me busy

Jack

For my own reference:

Cornish allocated panniers

2097 (PZ pilot)

4666 (Newquay, Chacewater, Par & related branches)

7754 (possibly Gwinear/Helston)

9655 (North Cornwall Railway, Bodmin Rd and related area's)

From 1950-1961'ish

-not a strict allocation but numbers taken from Cornwall Railway Society in West branches section.

Next task is to renumber the Bachmann pannier and fit irons and lamps.

Also just got a bargain off eBay, GWR trackside sign etches. Such as 'SW' & platfrom instructions.

Jack.

Hi Jack

Hand built track eh!!!

I've built my own points with coppereclad & rail but never plain track.....I've always used SMP & latterly looked at using C & L's flexitrack,as I think it's better than SMP.

Good luck & I shall follow your progress with interest.....

Hi Bill

Think i meant the C&L trackbase range (when the rail feeds through the chairs already attatched to the sleepers)

It should arrive soon so i've cleared the trackbed all ready to fix the track down. And to choose a more fine ballast. Possibly 2mm.

As apose to the ballast i previously used it looked a little course.

I've not seen SMP range i shall have a look now though..!

All the best

Jack

Hi Jack,

As I mentioned above I am thinking of switching to C&L as certainly the premade flexitrack is in my opinion superior now to SMP so I don't think you'll have any problems with the track you've bought.

Will watch progress.

Cheers Bill
