RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted July 3, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 3, 2013 Hi Chris, Nasty! Not... This was the first of my sound chipped locos and it showed. However - it's been tidied up and now has a different decoder with a sugar cube speaker. Really sounds the part - even audible over the ride on train that we had behind the layout. dave_long
Those hoppers are looking really good. Great weathering job. Might get to pop down to Redditch.
Chris Gilbert
Thanks both It's my first attempt at weathering using oil paints and weathering powders Boy the oil paints take some time to dry...
dave_long
Yeah I came across the slow drying process of oils on a little wooden structure. I painted it in the March it barely dried before tvnam.
Colinw62
Hi Chris I'm liking those hoppers! I'd pop along but I'm playing trains at Model Rail, Newark this weekend with Brenton Midland... Colin
DaminKeenan
Nice job on the hopper cars! Would love to attend the show and see your layout in person but I'm on the wrong hemisphere. Can't wait to see pictures from the show. Meanwhile, I toiling away on my own layout that's set for its second outing this October. Thanks, Damin. Chris Gilbert
Damin You've got to make more of an effort, I can understand Colin not coming cos he's play trains but being the wrong side of the pond doesn't cut it these days Only joking, I'll try and take photos and post them live 3G permitting I now have a tripod clamp for the iPhone so I hope to take some video as well

DaminKeenan
You've got to make more of an effort, I can understand Colin not coming cos he's play trains but being the wrong side of the pond doesn't cut it these days Ah, but I also mentioned that I was busy preparing my own layout for a show next month! Shouldn't that count as an excuse? Where can I see photos of you're layout? I've got some photos from the first show posted here, http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/10708. They are on the second page, scroll down to the comment titled "My First Layout Exhibition -- The Results." These were taken last March. They aren't the greatest as I didn't have a chance to take any photos until Sunday afternoon after the show had ended. By then the Sun was shining directly on the layout, making the lighting quite harsh for my little camera. Hopefully, I have a chance to take better photos at the next month's show. BTW, it's the Railroad Prototype Modelers meet on October 17-19. So if you're not busy playing trains, then you have no excuse for not crossing the pond to attend! Thanks, Damin. Supaned
I wonder how North Haston would work as an O scale layout? Certainly O scale trains have great "presence".
