Guest
Anyone fancy a 1975 Citroën GS C-matic with just 78 miles on the clock? It just screams 1970s, doesn't it? All that brown, inside and out... I'm not knocking it, I actually rather like it.

There's a reason it might scream 1970s Pete perhaps because it was built in 1975

Jenny Emily
Anyone fancy a 1975 Citroën GS C-matic with just 78 miles on the clock? Might need all the fluids changing..... Any idea what the story is behind that? 78 miles is nothing - I do that with two trips to work and back. I wonder why it was bought then effectively left in a garage for over 40 years? Horsetan
Any idea what the story is behind that? 78 miles is nothing - I do that with two trips to work and back. I wonder why it was bought then effectively left in a garage for over 40 years? Apparently a motor mechanic had made some money back in 1976 and was advised by his accountant to buy something to use some spare cash rather than losing it to the taxman. He decided to buy the GS, then stuck it in a garage and forgot about it. It only saw daylight again after he died. The owner's name was.... wait for it....Mr. Bean!! This is the place where it sat indoors for 42 years What's endearing about the auction today is that the car is being sold in between lots of household furniture. This GS has surely got "rugd1022"'s name all over it. And it's going to end up cheaper than the SM. All it needs is a bit of recommissioning and he's got a practically brand-new car untouched by time. Edited June 5, 2018 by Horsetan

Horsetan
Just a shame its a citroen isn't horse! Sez who? Where can you get a delivery-mileage Citroen - designed in the traditional avantgarde style that was gradually suppressed over the years by Peugeot - nowadays? Now sitting at £3450 with just over 6 hours to go. Calling "rugd1022" to the brown velour phone. That's "rugd1022" to the brown velour phone. Thank you. Londontram
Pulling your leg mate we all know what Citroens mean to you and good for you. I love my old Rover but it would be a boring old world if it was full of them and nothing else
Horsetan
Pulling your leg mate we all know what Citroens mean to you .... I never had an obsession with Citroens, but I was aware that they are just different - from an era when designers and engineers were allowed to have their head. And that suspension.... My own car history hasn't exactly been conventional - K70, Audi 90, NSU Ro80, 635CSi - so the CX was an itch that just had to be scratched. There is no way I can afford an original DS (it's also too long for the driveway), so the CX is the next best thing.

keefr2
boots2.jpgI've got midland lookylikes on my 71 midget and think they look 100 times better than either of the Rostyle offerings it's had in the past.. That's a lovely looking little thing, beautiful paintwork!
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted June 6, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 6, 2018 The paintwork looks flawless. Also, where can you find such an uninterrupted glass area like that now? The original '66-'70 Oldsmobile Toronado was about the same capacity. Dread to think what the fuel consumption figures were! A mate has a '72 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale convertible, with a 455 (7.4 litre) - it does between 9 and 12 mpg, but once got 19 on a run! Luckily it's not his daily driver. That's a Cadillac escalade, a 4x4 Pimpmobile sort of thing!

jacko
That's a lovely looking little thing, beautiful paintwork! Thanks. It's Candy apple red. (Don't tell the purists ). Took 13 coats of paint in all - 3 metallic silver, 6 translucent red and 4 clear. I then spent a further week sanding and polishing.
PatB
If you think Minilites on everything is bad, you haven't encountered the Australian tendency to put flamin' whitewalls on anything pre-1960. And cutting good, original steelwork to fit the most cheap and 'orrible aftermarket indicators available. And cheap retrims in either red velour or the nastiest vinyl to be found. Rugd1022
HOW much for a Scrote??? Makes the Citroen SMs and all the Italian exotica I've been obsessing about lately look cheap by comparison…! Horsetan
....£70k to spend.... Mk1 Escort or RHD Maserati Merak SS.... I know which I'd choose Neither. I'd be trying to acquire another NSU Ro80 and have a Mazda 13B installed in it. Fuel-injected, natch.

Judge Dread
Earlier today I was passed by a Jowett Javelin and an 30 as I strolled to the local shop. Turns out there's a big car show in Hull this weekend. steve That would be the 50th "East Coast Run" starting in the East Park, Hull and going to Bridlington. It was a commercial vehicles rally, buses and the like but these days now includes M/C's and cars. It wasn't my turn to drive on this occasion but the driver did stop and let me on as Sputnik left the East Park.
