manna
G'Day Gents i'm another newby to the forum, and would like to share my small exihbition layout, it's only 9'x5' roundy round, and built for use in Old folks homes (where I work) so is rather low, for people in wheelchairs etc, I made it a winter layout so that it was easy to see for the residents with poor eyesight, and many have never seen snow, it's based in South Australia, not a well know ski area. I model 'Edgware' normally, and being a GN based layout, I thought Mill Hill, (the next station along) would be a perfect location, I have a date for the first showing, 5th of August, so I'll have to get my finger out. See what you think. manna
contimod65
Hi there Really like these photo's of the snow. I'm building a German branch-line layout but looking to build it in the wintertime. Lookout for German branch-line if you are at all interested in its progress. Cheers Martin

manna
G'Day Gents Thank you for the replies, it is a bit different, is'n'it, I've added a few more pics, of a D2 (still a work in progress) this morning I've added a large billboard behind the platform, along with a L1 on a early morning stopper. I run any GN/LNER loco and stock that ran in the Southern division (Kings Cross area) between 1920 and 1968, with the odd GE loco and KX diesel. . manna
manna
G'Day Gents On holiday at the moment, so have spent a lot of time in the shed with Mill Hill, lots of hedges and trees have been installed, the bridge is almost complete, the facia and backscene are almost complete, I'll be varnishing the facia today, quite a bit of detail has been added, gates, fences, coal stathes, people. Mill Hill's first outing will be the 5th August, there's now another booking for early October at the Jamestown show (bit like a small country town show) so I'll be compeating with the ladies homemade jams time for a few pics. manna
Gordon A
Looking good, but the stock needs weathering with something white / grey to match the winter scene? Gordon A Bristol

manna
G'Day Gents Another update for Mill Hill, we now have the station buildings, I just managed to get the basic structure made and painted before the show for the old folks, it went down really well, they just sat there for two hours, watching and asking questions, it got quite hectic at times as I broke a point, which shut off three roads, leaving me with only two roads. At least I've found out most of the faults, like, fishplates as board joiners, the're to fiddley to put together, so I've been fitting brass screws under the rails at board joints, and soldering the rails to the screws, the screws have a history, I used to work at Eastleigh, and I use to wander over to the old steam shed, during lunch, it was used at that time for scrapping old SUB units, the screws were, just left lying around on the floor, so I picked them up, knew they'd come in handy one day (like 25 years later). Here's some pics. manna
worzel
manna Brilliant layout I think you've caught the buildings and bridge perfectly any chance of a peek at Edgware I was born and brought up in Mill Hill although the Mill Hill east Edgware section was long gone by my time I am contemplating modelling Mill Hill East complete with tube trains and class 15 coal trains for the gasworks or possibly woodside park in GNR days anyway well done and thanks for sharing The Hale with us jim
manna
G'Day Gents Thank you, worzel, I've still got a few more bits to do on Mill Hill, but I had a good show at Jamestown, a couple of weeks ago, had at least a 150 people come up and have a look, I'll probably get another invite next year. I'll start a new thread on Edgware, later today, it's still a works in progress, but it gives me something to potter along with slowly. manna
hayfield
I work in Mill Hill and have taken an interest in the line, especially as the plan was to extend the line to Bushey Heath then on to Watford Junction. Mill Hill East station is a lovely yellow brick building and it mus have looked even better with GNR stock passing through.

manna
G'day Gents Last year, before I fractured my foot, I took some pictures of Mill Hill, while I was getting the layout ready for the Jamestown show, but because of my foot and a blood clot in my leg I couldn't attend, and the pictures got forgotten, I found them again whilst emptying the camera's SD card. Enjoy. manna
