Hello all,

Had some weekend engineering work on the branch

The S&T chaps worked hard to get the lineside trunking in place along with point motor's and the wiring for the new signals.

The brickies worked flat out to build a new tunnel mouth.

And finally i sourced a Hornby Skaledale Terminus which has been chopped up a little to create Aylestone North, There will be some more adjustments once i've built the canopy's for the station.

Now awaiting the first ballast train.

station building is very creative idea and works well even at this stage i think. I owned that set of station buildings at one point - don't seem to find many around these days!

Will be following with interest on how the station progresses...

Hello all,

I've been plodding along doing a bit here and there this week, first off the majority of ballasting for the Aylestone North branch is in place, i have about a foot to go but needed to wait till buffer stops and more third rail arrived, now this is here i should have it completed and weathered over the next few days.

I've also spent a little time constructing a gantry for the platform signals using Bromley North as a guide, I'm waiting on some fine brass rod to build the safety railings then she'l be painted and installed on the layout.

Liking the gantry, very good G.

Also the video of the failed Eurostar.

A few 37s, in the Channel Tunnel freight yard, which had been returned from the continent, a couple of year's ago.

Hello all,

All my attention of late has been on the branch station (Aylestone North), All the ballasting and third rail is now complete, platforms installed and painted, Station building hacked around to suit location and doors painted into NSE red. Buffer stop lights and platform lamps are in place and wired up and i'm now in the process of adapting a Ration canopy to fit in with the building.

The signal gantry is now finished and awaiting installation, once its in i can crack on with some weathering and start making it look a little more realistic.

Hello all,

After a few hours work things are looking up, the signal gantry is now in place but requires wiring up and bedding in on the platform.

Track is now weathered and even got some greenery in place.

View from the tunnel mouth.

Thats looking great  Graham , really nice job.  I bet it feels good to get that first bit of scenery down!

Hi Marcus,

Yeah it nice to get some greenery in, mainly so in can get some better photo's. I have plenty of jobs on the go for the layout and its nice to move around, keeps it interesting rather than monotonous.

cheers

Graham.
