Shadow
Taken from Chanctonbury Ring on the South Downs, looking over Wiston Park. It's just north of Worthing on the South Coast. The forecast had said it was going to be misty, so got up at 5:30, drove to the bottom of the downs, walked to the top, and got there just before sunrise! (About 7:00) Stayed for an hour and half, took over 60 pictures! The scene kept changing by the minute. Think it was worth while though. Dave p.s. Shadow
Not time lapse, just a long exposure (15 to 30s) and lucky timing! Lots of photo's with just black sky!

Danemouth
The new Welsh Mining Memorial opened a couple of weeks ago in Sengenhydd on the centenary of the Universal Pit disaster in which 440 men and boys lost their lives. It commemorates the 152 mining related incidents across Wales where there were five or more fatalities over the past 200 years. Dave
A_S
I think I am getting a bit too obsessed with the sky long exposures - but its all a learning process to get just enough movement but not too much. (hard when you only have 2,3,10 stop filters, giving 5 or 10 and nothing in between. For those that aren't aware of the mathematics of camera light stops - to lengthen the exposure by 1 stop you double the length (time) each time - so 1 stop gives you 2x light @ double the time, 2 stops 4x, 3 8x etc and therefore the multiple for 5 stops is 32 and for 10 is 1024 (although my 10 stops is closer to 11 stops at 2048..). so if you have a base exposure of 1 second without an filter - a 5 stop filter gives you 32 seconds and 11 stops 2048 seconds or 32 minutes..! 271013 Horse by Andrew_S84, on Flickr Still looking very green around the lakes but the rest of the park is very orange and brown - however whether it will be after tonight is another question..! Bit of a cheat this one - as with my exposure blending post - it was so windy this morning that I did 1 shot for the trees (and horse) and 1 for the sky. Jaz
I'm not fussed about the sky to be honest, but the water and the horse makes for a gorgeous picture.
jcredfer
Hi folks This is just a quick note to see if you are all OK after the high winds and heavy rain that we've been enduring this Autumn here in Salisbury. We felt quite strange on Sunday night and Monday morning because of all the wind overnight and in the morning there was no wind at all. Just as well considering the number of Sycamore trees outside. It had been breezy on Sunday with some showers, but nothing like the last one Michael Fish said didn't happen. It was enough to pile leaves from a plane tree across the road nearly 2 feet deep against the side of the garage, but, in truth, nothing worse than that.
