Minsterley - Modern Image OHLE Layout

My, you have bin busy, well worth the wait though, you must do this on you next layout, i.e. make us wait.

I notice, there is no trackbed, champhered or flat, for noise proofing, in the Tmd and the whole of the layout, for that matter.

Is this due to the thickness of the Mdf you have used ?

Although,I have also to consider your locos, the majority are sound, these would dampen any board noise.

It also seems, you have brought on your video skills,to yet a higher level, Widescreen and HD,

must buy a 60 inch screen to view these on.

To me,as just a non technical railway spectator, everything just seems to flow from train speeds/video frames per seconds to the

sound/speed match of the locos. You must have spent a lot of time, achieving this.

From weathering to landscaping, signalling, buildings and Ohle, it just looks right, everyday kind of right.

As I know what you do to earn a crust, there still maybe time for you to apply, for the next phase of this project.

It's advantage is,

It comes with Seawiews, something you have not attempted on your model,as yet.

Take a look,you maybe tempted.

Thanks chaps. Little secret is that the project is well advanced on those pics. I've lots of later pics, but that's for another day.

That's a nicer site than I'm used to Mr.T. Would be tempting, yes.

The track is actually laid on 2mm thick polystyrene sheet, which comes on a roll; as is the rest of the layout. In the pics is been painted a dingy brown so It looks like its just bare boards. Provides good sound insulation...and it's cheap too!

Hi Dave.

I'm intrigued by the concrete in the TMD.  What is it?  I assume you levelled it off and made the imprints before it was fully set?  Otherwise cleaning the track would  have been a real job, I imagine.

Some of the lads at our club have tried to make concrete and it looks a right mess!!!  If we can borrow/pinch your ideas, that could well be the solution.

Hi Rod.

The TMD concrete is Wickes plaster with a bit of acrylic black paint added. Pour it into the matchstick mould and get as smooth as poss. Leave it for a while to harden a little, then, as you mentioned, press the building/structure into the top to make an imprint. While it is still wet, run a wagon along the tracks and use tip of matchstick to clean a groove out between the running edge of the track and the 'concrete'. When dry, trim off and use sandpaper to get a smooth finish. Then paint with thinned paint washes.  For the fuelling point concrete I used MDFcut to shape, sprayed with Plasticote suede and painted. Gives cleaner edges.

Thanks chaps.  I'll own up Sam....there might be a bit more than a weeks work in there . Been at it now, since the new year...so its all condensed a bit to make me look hard working..lol :sungum:

Brian, the layout is about 25ft x 9ft.
