AndrewC
With the sofa in the background might I suggest a name: Leather Hill.
Robatron86
That sofa does appear in an awful lot of photos...I will consider the name suggestion

shortliner
Ray - I put her on the rolling road and let her run for an hour in each direction - absolutely fine - thank you - the reprogramming done by the nice gentleman on the Digitrains stand sorted her out
Robatron86
This isn't railway related, but I thought Pete (trisonic) would enjoy this.
trisonic
I love those early Fender Precisions (the one on the right). Is it "noisy"? I've just got three more of mine back at home that I missed photographing last year: Les Paul Custom, '52 Fender Telecaster and a Pettingill Steel custom made for me; actually a new model prototype #001 "Cruiser". I'll place a couple of photos in "Early Risers" - when I get around to it! Best, Pete.
Robatron86
Do you mean noisy as in loud, or noisy due to single coil interference? Well, it is very loud and punchy for a single coil, and it doesn't really suffer from too much interference. I use a Boss ODB-3 live and it seems to handle it well. I am planning on getting the "ashtrays" to complete the look. I've not heard of Pettingill Steel before, but I shall look them up. And I would love a '52 tele. trisonic
I'm glad it is not noisy (interference) as I'd like to get one to record with - I heard that the Squier version was very good (and I'm a crap Bass Guitarist).. Best, Pete.
trisonic
If you Google "Tom Pettingill Cruiser" you'll find a link to my actual guitar on a Steel Guitar Forum. It's a thread started by Tom with photos of my guitar including very detailed shots. D'oh! Here's a link: http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=169279 Best, Pete. Robatron86
I have had a busy evening! So I have been finding it difficult finding a Walthers Diesel House kit. Not one of the usual stockist has it. So I popped in to Model Junction in Slough today (great shop) and found this: And I thought, well I've kitbashed one shed, I can do it again. And here it is: Still needs a lot of work. Hiding the joins is the main job. And I think the doors may need widening. But so far I am happy. And it was a good 20 quid cheaper than the Diesel House kit. Thanks for looking, Rob
Robatron86
Little more done: I have widened the doors, and left them quite tall as I have Hi Cube stock. I also want to have a little bit of a roller shutter on show as well. I have added most of the roof, and the back wall to the right has been added. I am using Art Card for the 2 unseen walls as it is quite strong, it's about 3 mm thick. But, do I leave the long section off the back so I can access the interior or make a complete building? Answers on a postcard please!
switcher 1
I'd think a lift off roof or lift off building would be the way to go; just my thoughts.
Robatron86
I appreciate the feedback fatmac. I was just thinking maybe about having hidden access to the shed. I am planning a wagon load with an EMD Prime Mover which I could remove from the wagon inside the shed.
RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted March 18, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 18, 2014 HI Rob, Leave the back off and make up some girders to represent the roof trusses and uprights. Then add some black plastic sheet from the back to cover the opening when not using it. Just ideas..... Thanks
Robatron86
Thanks for the idea Phil. I have completed the roof. I have decided on a compromise. I have used a solid wall for the first half, and the second half will use Phil's idea. Thanks for the comments guys.
DanielB
Maybe scour the net for a photograph of a maintenance shed interior and stick it to the inside of the removable section? attach it with magnets for easy removal?
Robatron86
There will be a detailed interior, where it is visable. The area with the hidden access is not hugely visable, so I could just get away with plain colour material. It's pretty well hidden I think.
DanielB
Can't wait to see this at TVNAM. All I need is a partner in crime to run Cane River with me and I'll actually be able to go around and look at the other exhibits!
Robatron86
I hope I get it to a decent standard by June! I feel honoured to be in a room with North Haston, 59th and Rust, your layout and Broomfield (in fact anything by Jack). These layouts have really inspired me. I'm sure you can find a willing partner.
