Waverley47708
Hot of the press, the line up for this years Perth and District Model Railway club's exhibition. :danced: I count over 30 layouts listed already, I am really looking forward to seeing Aberdeen Kirkhill and Hazelbank if you can excuse my mid 1980s obsession, however there looks to be something for everyone. Perth & District MRC Presents A Celebration of Model Railways 2014 at The Dewars Centre Glover Street, Perth PH2 0TH Saturday June 28th 10.00 - 5.30 Sunday June 29th 10.00 - 5.00 Dear Modeller, Once again, we are looking forward to bringing the best of railway modelling to Perth and have been working hard over the last few months assembling a selection of quality layouts in all the major scales and gauges from all over the UK. It is our intention to present around 46 layouts which is our biggest selection yet! We are also going to have the best and fully comprehensive trade support and will again be including some seminars and demonstrations to help show you how its done. Once again, we will have Hornby in attendance and we are pleased that they come to Perth to show some of their latest developments and releases. We also will have some scale/gauge specialist societies as well as those representing the historical and preservation side of our interests. All this will take place as usual in the Dewars Centre within two halls and we hope you can come along and be inspired by what we will have on show. RMweb Premium Legend Posted January 20, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 20, 2014 I enjoy Model Rail Scotland in the SECC Glasgow last week in February, and still love visiting it, but over the years the Perth exhibition has certainly grown in stature. It reminds me now of the Halcyon days of the McLellan Galleries venue for Model Rail Scotland. I think it's fair to say that Perth gets more layouts from down South and good quality ones too. It might be because it's not held in the SECC barn but it certainly seems a more friendly intimate show and less commercialised (people selling burgers etc) even though I appreciate it has to make money! So well recommended!
Robuk1981
Well this sounds pretty easy to get to how far from the bus station?
Lowlander
Well this sounds pretty easy to get to how far from the bus station? Hi It's about a ten to fifteen minute walk from from the bus station. But the Dewars centre is on the main bus route in Perth and there is bus stop across from the centre, where the citylink and express buses stop. If you Google streetview it, you will see how close it is. Stephen
Waverley47708
It is even closer to the train station, 5 minutes from the train station to the Dewers Centre.
SEM63A
Hi It's about a ten to fifteen minute walk from from the bus station. But the Dewars centre is on the main bus route in Perth and there is bus stop across from the centre, where the citylink and express buses stop. If you Google streetview it, you will see how close it is. Stephen Hi, There is also a Park and Ride service which operates from Broxden on the western edge of Perth where many of the express buses run by Stagecoach (Megabus) stop. There is also a car park there and this is a good way to get into Perth using the same bus stop as Stephen described above. The Park and Ride operates on Saturday only. Judge Dread
"Stan, Stan pick up thy musket!" I am given to believe that Hospital Gate's invite may have caused you some concern but fear not Stan, your secret is safe with us. In any event I am determined to be there this year having enjoyed myself so much last year and this time I don't have to drive (Or put another way, I'm not volunteering for that!) Do you want me to organise my friend with his Vincent outfit again for Sunday morning Stan? He also enjoyed himself. Roll on June!
SEM63A
A senior moment methinks! I hope its sorted now. The Vincent would be great - let me know when its confirmed. I know a couple of bike enthusiasts who will have to see it! June is getting closer!
26power
Railway station surely! We are not Americans, yet! It is even closer to the train station, 5 minutes from the train station to the Dewers Centre.
Judge Dread
A senior moment methinks! I hope its sorted now. The Vincent would be great - let me know when its confirmed. I know a couple of bike enthusiasts who will have to see it! June is getting closer! You must be swamped with work (what ever that is). The deed is done, make sure the hall's extract fans are running on the Sunday morning! Here is the beast in question at last years show. It is a 1950 Series C Rapide 998cc, coupled to a Stieb sidecar and to assist in keeping the outfit on the road the bike has 15 inch wheels instead of the "normal" 20/19 inch set. A further modification is a large piece of lead bolted to the front sidecar frame tube to help keep it's wheel on the road. John calls it his "uncomplaining passenger". SEM63A
You must be swamped with work (what ever that is). The deed is done, make sure the hall's extract fans are running on the Sunday morning! Work gets in the way a lot! I'll add the fans to the Friday check list. It's chilly in that hall just now what with all the ice down for the curling! Judge Dread
Aha! The Judge goes to Northern climes then? Yes indeedy, I enjoyed myself so much last year, I'm doing it again! I thought for a moment you where going to be there Martin. That would mean I would have to iron my checked shirt!

Waverley47708
Saw New Hey at Doncaster in February, thought it an excellent layout and am looking forward to seeing it again at Perth this summer.
SEM63A
Well folks, we've completed the layout booking for 2014. We are expecting 47 layouts to appear which is our largest number so far and the largest number of layouts appearing at a show in Scotland this year! We are keeping our standard high, as always, too so it will hopefully be a show with something for everyone. Some new traders too. Hope you all have the dates in your diaries!
