More testing... while we await a new double slip to replace the one on the cattle dock siding more testing has been undertaken.

First up the "number boards" at each end of the fiddle yard

and the other end

One of our members has been detailing a Hornby 8F using the Brassmaster bits

and, of course, when trains are moving we always have some watchers

So one or Hon Secretary Andy Morris has been busy with Ian his brother producing some scenic additions to Chapel. All trackwork painted and  a start has been made on teh underbridges (pictures soon)

but what has appeared are some of these

3D Cadded via Shapeways. Very nice and the easiest way to get to a water column which looks right.

In addition a wagon has appeared:

Unfortunately it is not the Hattons one...

and its a bit small but if all else fails we have now got a plan B.

The Ngauge one is for a new N gauge layout from Ian Morris and will be available for purchase through shapeways.

Didn't John A do some etchings for those years ago for Hartford Junction? I bought a Peak Models resin kit at about the same time but it was, shall we say, not of the highest quality.

Unfortunately no. For its outing last year we borrowed 6 from LNER4479 which he had expertly built from the peak forest mouldings. We have all ordered Hattons/Oxford Rail ones but....

Plan B involves an etched underframe and 3D CAD hopper as Andy Morris already has the drawings for the N gauge one.

John A built some Anhydrite Hoppers for Blea Moor. Cast resin hopper (master fom Andy Ross) and etched chassis from Mike Edge.

Bit more work done today. While a lot of wood "sculpting" was going on by Ian and Andy Morris preparing for the installation of some bridges under the railway. A task was undertaken which has been put off for ages.

The signals are being "planted" ready for completion

post-7650-0-62054500-1476560701_thumb.jpg

a large diameter brass tube has been located through a signal "base" - you can see the next one being fastened in place in the background of the picture. The signal post was fitted to a brass plate drilled for the post and also for the operating wire. A piece of brass tube to take the operating wire was soldered into the signal locating tube, with the signal post then being added and... the signal dutifully "plonked"

and a closer look at one of those nice 3D Cadded water crane

Are the watercranes to be made available? And in other scales?

I believe they will be available shortly. Currently in 4mm but as the guy who has done them is planning to help his brother to build a model of Doveholes in N.

I will ask if he intends to do it in N as well

Very nice Baz. Even with bare boards and no trains that "restricted height" signal tells us immediately that we're somewhere on the LM.

A bit more work done on signals today.

There is a 2 doll 4 signal arm at one end of the station

I have fabricated this from brass tube, some brass channel and some MSE signal arms

post-7650-0-75204800-1476909618_thumb.jpg

I made up a base (which fits snugly into a piece of tube already "planted" in the baseboard (see previous photos. This has a large dameter tube with 4 operating wire "holding" tubes soldered into the bigger tube, two either side of where the signal post will fit.

post-7650-0-47098400-1476909604_thumb.jpg

The post was then fitted and held in place by aA piece of nickel silver shaped to fit around the post and the operating wire tubes.

post-7650-0-95010500-1476909624_thumb.jpg.

Now just have to fit operating the signal controls, servos and wiring.

The underbridge and farm track culverts have been 3D printed..photos soon.

As its our Club's 70th Anniversary the layout has some deadlines to meet, hence the speed up on the scenery provision!

It will be at Steam Swindon next September, our show in October then the NEC in November.

More jubilees have been acquired and also one or two Britannia's so rolling stock and loco wise we are good to go.

Thanks to another RMWebber more details of signals have been received so I need to get these sorted.

Not making an early 'in progress' appearance at the Leeds Mrs. Exhibition this weekend then.

Hope to catch up with some old friends (both human and of various gauges) this weekend.

Jamie

Hi Jamie

so we seem to have a "delivery" plan coming together. We aim to get the layout to "finished good for Photography" in May next year before completion to "exhibition" standard for an outing in September in Swindon, then more finishing for our show in October then more things to finalise for Warley in November - could be a busy year!

Under-bridges are all 3 D printed, discussions with "scenic" team undertaken... biggest task... ballasting!
