That track works looking really smart now Jinty. Really coming along nicely.

Really nice picture the last one with all that Type 5 motive power.

Looking forward to seeing the 31 when it's done. I've just bought Anthony 31247 in RF Red Stripe livery, but unfortunately it's back at Margate due to the sound chip going up in smoke.

Look forward to some more updates.

I'll try and get up to you soon.

All the best

Marcus

Good morning Jints, I hope there are no surveillance cameras on the A55 otherwise we will be getting investigated soon about these brown boxes being handed over in the Abergele / Bodelwyddan area

That photo of the mundane scruffy, grey with yellow cab ends 31 is a lovely example, that is a livery I was thinking of for my other Minotaur model, let me know how you get on with it, and for what it's worth I still think the Airfix / Dapol / Hornby MK2ds are still a good looking model, on e you have put them Bachmann B4s under them they lift the model considerably, even better with the Laser Glaze added.

Happy modelling

Craig

Trackwork looking great Jinty,

I did my class 31 31319 so you could do the same or 31132 looks like it might do the job.

Cheers Peter.

Hi Peter,

Yes the class 31???

The Internet is wonderful as there is a Flikr Group called "Class 31's with Mini Ploughs", so armed with pen and paper, I have a little list:

31120

31132

31164

31229

31239

31275

31317

31319

Out of which I am down to 2

31132 or 31164. 164 was still in original R/F Grey in '92 and was withdrawn in May '95 A Bescot loco at one point, so its home stomping ground is in the vicinity too.

I managed a few hours in the garage this afternoon.

I cleared a lot of my 'junk' over to one side, and then made a framework base to sit the Wrexbury Marsh boards on, whilst still being able to carry out maintenance as well.

Here is the framework so far, with the current 2 boards sitting on it.

I also moved my LED spots from where the old Wrexbury was, to over this layout, but instead of setting them directly overhead, I've set them in front of the boards and at an angle towards the boards.

I've done a few test shots of some different coloured locos, just to see how the light falls. Bearing in mind there is quite strong sunlight from behind the locos, I don't think they've come out too bad.

Just about all the colours have come out ok, so I'm pleased. An afternoon well spent!!!

The keen eyed amongst you will have spotted that 31439 has had her proper high intensity light units fitted now.

I've got a full day of trips to the tip on Monday, before my panelling, framing and insulation materials arrive on Tuesday. Then I can get on with making it all more inhabitable for the Winter months.

Looking very nice Jinty. I've got the remnants of my old layout that need to go to the tip. Problem is though it's more enjoyable doing some modelling. Will have to relent before long though.

A lovely selection of stock by the way. How about a line up of some nice EE Type 3.

Cheers

Marcus

I'm still waiting to see this damned Jinty and after all this wait, it had better have a fully compensated High Level chassis :D

He he he!!!

I have a few, but no compensated chassis, well except the O'gauge one and the gauge 1 one I have, all boxed up and tucked away for a rainy day, or a small 7mm shunting plank one day, maybe?????

I've said it before I think he's just confused by the 47xxx number. HaHaHa.

Yes I seem to be collecting 47's, I've got a fair few now, just got to get them finished (weathered, painted, rebuilt).

As for EE type 3's, yes I'll have to put some of them out soon!!!

That's a good find, Flickr is great for finding loco pics. I didn't know so many class 31s in this liv had ploughs. 132 and 164 would make a good choice as the headlight looks to be in the right spot.

Cheers Peter.

Hi Jinty ........ see that space you have now, you should flog off all the 4mm stock and go 7mm .... you know it makes sense  :friends:

Oh dear............

Before I started Wrexbury, I was considering a 7mm representation of Talyllyn Junction, in the 60's with both LMR and GWR running rights, a hole in the wall and out around the garden to the shed representing the Brecon side (I think it was Brecon, to the left looking from the tunnel), and traversers for the other two.

I always loved the station, although I'd never been, it was just so simple, and very busy from the films I've seen.

Panniers, Praries, 2251's, Jinty's and both 3F's and 4F's trundling around with 2 and 3 coach trains, or pick-up goods.

And I would of built a 4mm in the loft, but it all got changed around!!!

Oh dear, stop me, clense thyself, ignore the voices!!!!!! :O :o

There, there, that's better. Back to the job in hand.

Must find some type 3 power for a couple of pictures to keep the requesters happy!!!!

Good man. I shall wait intently.

Oh well, if you insist............................

60002 "Capability Brown" arrives with a short train within its sector

post-14906-0-45343700-1429384433_thumb.jpg

Then a bit of spotting off the road over bridge. 37429 arrives with chemicals for the works

post-14906-0-41695600-1429384447_thumb.jpg

31439 leaves with the local to Wolverhampton

post-14906-0-59649600-1429384463_thumb.jpg

Then some EE Type 3 poses

427, 429, 431, 506 and 906............

And a bit of type 5 'Grid' action too,

and 56034

See I can create a post without any 47's in the pictures!!!!!

Must catch up, on where, you decided to do the re work and why.

Seemed to have missed that.

Did think of hand building DP, but space limitation s and tight curve s put an end to those thought s.

Nice work, like what you have done,so far and for shewing, what can happen, when small mistake s occur.

Hi David,

I decided to re-work the whole garage when I found some warped MDF boards. So I then decided to make the garage more habitable and re-build Wrexbury itself.

Wrexbury Marsh is a stand alone layout, but also part of the main layout. So I'm continuing with that whilst I insulate the garage. Once the garage is done I will put the boards and helix in for the main station, and I will be hand building the track on that too.

Thanks for your comments

Jinty ;-)

Absolutely brilliant, I haven't checked in for far too long but everything is still brilliant or even better! Love your locos, I need to build up a fleet of 37s and 47s as well as some blue/grey MK1s for this new layout of mine, plus some kettles :O. If I had a bit more cash I'd be building points, but seeing as I need somewhere in the region of 10 points and two crossovers, that's around £580!

By my reckoning that's actually about £70 if you build them in copperclad, and even if you want them with chairs it's probably less than a third of your figure. Add on about £15-20 for the first three or four that you will inevitably scrap because they are not quite good enough (but everything is recyclable!).

Allow 3-4 hours each to build (after practice I can build them in half the time) you could build all of your turnouts in 3-4 weeks allowing an hour or two a night (the first one takes the longes!!).

Now how good does Peco look as an option?
