I've added another little project to the workbench tonight, Dapol Suburban Brake coach.

This will be made into a fictitious departmental tool van/workshop van.

I've ordered some Laserglaze for it, and I'll be fitting most of the windows before it gets it's departmental grey livery.

Tonight I thought I'd remove the door handles and handrails. I've also removed the end handrails and drilled and made up some fresh ones out of .45mm wire.

I've replaced the buffers for some larger round ones, and drilled a hole ready to take an air pipe.

Firstly though I hacked away the bogie to fit the Kadee no; 148's and fitted some Bachmann wheel sets. I've also fitted a couple of the ESU wheel pick-ups as I'm going to give it some interior lights, worked by a function only decoder.

The finished bogie.....

Fitted to the main shell and set for height.....

A view of the end showing the added handrails ( the curved rail is loosly placed as the glazing has to go in from the outside!!!).......

Waiting for the Laserglaze now and once some of it's fitted, I can finish it in Departmental grey.

A gentle Sunday, fiddling around with some scenery, building a lineside hut, making a few more handrails for the departmental tool van.

So I thought I'd stage a few photographs to try and give a feel for Wrexbury Marsh.

We start with a view of the front of Class 108, DMBS 50948 sitting in the carriage sidings, 60002 " Capability Brown" in the headshunt, with 08648 shunting PCA's in front of the silos.

post-14906-0-53486100-1424632758_thumb.jpg

Next up we have a buffer shot across 60002 and 37431 "Bullidae"

post-14906-0-69391200-1424632772_thumb.jpg

Next up, 47424 arrives with the Mk2D set for platform 2

post-14906-0-31262700-1424632784_thumb.jpg

Followed shortly after by 47331 in 'Dutch' livery with a BDA, ZBO and ZBA visible

post-14906-0-65495400-1424632798_thumb.jpg

47331 joins shedmate (Immingham) 60002 on the headshunt as 31439 "Severn Valley Railway" reverses the Mk2D set to Wrexbury

post-14906-0-78182900-1424632812_thumb.jpg

An overview of the overgrown culvert and the end of the headshunt.

post-14906-0-10703100-1424632828_thumb.jpg

And a view through the culvert (even managed a water reflection!!!) from the other side

post-14906-0-38009800-1424632842_thumb.jpg

And finally 47424 and 47508 "SS Great Britain" leave for Wrexbury TMD together

Any comments most welcome

Looking great jinty keep em coming

David

Thanks David

Looks superb Jinty!

Thanks Will

Nice work, looking great.

Thanks Ess, how's your shunting layout coming on?

Wrexbury Marsh is looking excellent Jintyman.

Graham.

Thanks Graham,

I could do with some carpentry skills like yours with my up coming work on the layout room!!!

Looking great Jinty, really coming along and great photos!

Cheers, Paul

Thanks a lot Paul, praise indeed with your greenery

Evening Jinty, great sets of pics mate, really like the 60 and LL 47.

Thanks Andy,

Yes I do like the 60, I've got Samuel Johnson in Petroleum livery as well, but it's not wearthered yet.

L/Logo 47424 has Biffo sound, including the faster idle that ETH's had.

And as an extra point, Bachmann and Heljan Duffs look ok together I think.

Thanks again all

It's not at the moment unfortunately :(

Sorry to hear that Ess. Well I hope you are able to get some quality time with it soon. ;)

I'm waiting for my Laserglaze for the departmental brake, that should be here tomorrow. Once that's here I can fit some of it and then paint the body, then I'll fit the transfers and varnish, fitting the remaining glazing after.

The first part of the glazing fitted is to be painted the same as the body, to suggest unused/blanked off windows, I've already removed all the door handles. So hopefully it should look the part.

Those pictures are simply stunning mate. Both scenery and stock look spot on. Certainly will be a cracking layout when it's finished.

Cheers

Marcus

Thanks Marcus,

Planning the garage insulation at the moment, I think I'll be doing one wall at a time as I have that much stuff to store as well as the layout!!!

I'm going to order some GU10 downlights and movable spots, so I can fit them with LED's. I've found out that I can also insulate the ceiling to retain heat, which will be a bonus.

Had a play with Sprog 2 today as a throttle, I also downloaded the Train Driver app for my phone and I've been moving loco's about with my mobile!!! Technology eh????

I looked at how to utilise the Lenz LZV100 and get it to work with my mobile through a router, etc, but apparently the app/software for it is only available on the iphone, and as I don't have one, I'm maybe looking towards the ESU ECoS system instead of the Lenz. I'd happily be corrected on this as I like my Lenz system, although a bit dated, I find it does everything it should with no fuss, and reliably too. I also use a Roco Multimaus handset as extra throttle, which is excellent as well.

Any thoughts or information on this or to the contrary is welcome.

Danny Boy ..... I hoped you concentrated whilst you was at parent's evening tonight ? not letting your mind wander to what was in your box of goodies that you covertly picked up at the "Bod" westbound services on the A55  :friends:

It would be nice to see some pics of 37429 on the Cement Tanks on Wrexbury ....  :sungum:

Many thanks

Craig.

Met Muddys this tea time on the A55, contraband swapped hands...............

The parents evening was the usual boring stuff!!!

We'll go through the new additions, one by one:

Firstly we have a pair of NSE bodies for my spare 108 chassis I had acquired along the way somewhere.

51909 + 54271 entering Wrexbury Marsh

post-14906-0-04702200-1424981370_thumb.jpg

No acquisition would be thye same without a 'Duff'.

Here is 47535 "University of Liecester" in L/Logo Blue

This I think will be renumbered to a 'non named' L/Logo example.

post-14906-0-05388700-1424981395_thumb.jpg

Oh look, another 'Duff', this time a parcel liveried 47474 "Sir Rowland Hill".

This one will definatly be renumbered to a 'non named' parcels example.

post-14906-0-50289900-1424981413_thumb.jpg

Now as I've already mentioned earlier, a 'Slug' arrives on Wrexbury, in particular 37906 in Railfreight redstripe livery

post-14906-0-63608600-1424981432_thumb.jpg

And from the other side

post-14906-0-73845500-1424981447_thumb.jpg

Now we have another class 37, 37429 "Eisteddfod Glnedlaethol" in TTG 'Construction' livery

post-14906-0-86310700-1424981461_thumb.jpg

And from the other side...

post-14906-0-01481400-1424981476_thumb.jpg

Another 'Construction' sector liveried loco in the shape of 56034 "Ogmore Castle"

post-14906-0-65332000-1424981492_thumb.jpg

And a stable mate 56049 in Railfreight Redstripe livery

post-14906-0-95399700-1424981505_thumb.jpg

A pair of 'Construction' sector locos taking a rest in the head shunt.

post-14906-0-93090800-1424981517_thumb.jpg

And 37906 leaves via the crossover

I'd like to thank Muddy's for some more great stock, great chat, never long enough though.

You can, get GU10, leds,,   I have 26, 3.5 w. coolwhites,  very good colour, for open heart surgery, and working on the layout.

Will try to get, 2.5w. warmwhites, later, much later, to place over finished sections, :O  ( ha ha).

If you are going, with a new ECoS, Charlie @ DKits has them at  499GBPs

Wow Jinty, some nice Stock there Matey, Where's the RED STRIPE gone on 506?

Hi Andy,

Thanks, but I think you need to read the number again!!!!

It's a 'Slug', 37 906 There were six 37's rebuilt with Mirless and Paxman engines as a trial in the late 80's. Used mainly on Metals sector work, especially on Cardiff - Dee Marsh workings.

Jinty ;-)
