Don't you think you're being a tad paranoid???  :scratchhead:

I think I have been on record that Hornby's model makes a locomotive that looks appallingly ugly in photos look Quite Interesting.

Robs photo confirms this.

Of course, compared with a Castle or King...

Not paranoid, you’ve just got an active mind that can see the outline of our Dark Side friend in the whiteish background of Ron’s photo…

Like me I suppose, as I can see him lurking there too! :o

I’ve got a bad feeling about this! ;) :D

The force is strong with this one.

:D

Spellcheckers! The farce …

That’s a bit unfair, probably coloured by the experience of my first Hornby Thompson. Chamossaire is quite a nice model and I like the way Hornby has reflected the different boiler cladding plate arrangement. I’ll admit to being tempted but, you know, cost, competition and trailing wheels.

My favourite Hornby at the moment is the Peckett B2.  I spent a very pleasant hour or two shunting on @Lambton58's plank with his first run Sherwood the other weekend and the B2's smooth running and slightly more secure pickup than its four-wheeled companions was very noticeable (DC so no stay-alives here).  It also looks good - the rods are particularly fine (Bachmann please note).

It isn't perfect (I'm aware of issues with the wheel profile and brittle pickups; also there's too much sideplay which can make coupling tiddly standard tension locks a chore) but as the basis for a small economical setup using mostly rtr components it is a very strong contender.

RIP Robbie.

It's a real shame that this thread has lost many of the excellent pictures Robbie posted. Hopefully his pics are safe, and maybe one day they might become available.
