alanbuttler
Sierd (Trains&Armour) recently commented on my Oswestry works thread that should his loco's get bomb damaged on his WWII themed Aberdovey layout, he'd be able to send them up the line to Oswestry for repair. I liked this idea of our layouts being virtually linked, I've thought before how you could run a virtual CCE through the various layouts on RMWeb, up through Dukedog9017's 'Morfa Bach' terminating in CambrianCoasters 'Pwllheli next stop' layout. I've made a half hearted attempt at making a list of Cambrian themed layouts but didn't get very far, so I thought I'd give it another try If you know of any others I've missed please add them in the comments and I'll keep this first post updated There's some big gaps in the network to be filled Happy Cambrian modelling! ***** February 13th 2015 Update - Thanks for feedback and corrections, some new layouts added. ***** Mainline Layouts - Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth SHREWSBURY (P4) - WIP BR(W) era layout of Shrewsbury Station by Ray Warner Coastline Layouts - Machynlleth to Pwllheli ABERDOVEY (OO) - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/62254-porth-aberdovey/ BARMOUTH BRIDGE (O) - need a link BARMOUTH JUNCTION (OO) - http://www.gtbuildingsmodels.co.uk/page24bj1.html MORFA (EM) - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/47984-morfa-spring-clean/ MORFA BACH (OO) - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/852/entry-8959-morfa-bach-update-170312/ TRAETH MAWR (4mm Fictional) - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/82047-traeth-mawr-planning-baseboards-questions/ SHELL ISLAND (EM Fictional) - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=24923 AFON WEN - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/59813-afon-wen/ PWLLHELI (OO) - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/60560-pwllheli-next-stop/ RHYD-Y-CLAFDY (4mm Fictional) - https://www.model-railways-live.co.uk/Articles/336/Rhyd-y-Clafdy_-_BRM_December_2002/ BODUAN JUNCTION (4mm Fictional) - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/81357-rip-boduan-junction/?hl=%2Bboduan+%2Bjunction Barmouth Junction - Dolgellau Layouts ABERGWYNANT (EM Fictional) - http://rushbys-railways.blogspot.co.uk/2009/09/abergwynant.html PENMAENPOOL (OO) - http://dukedog9017.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/steam-on-cambrian-my-layout-update.html PENMAENPOOL (OO) - http://www.gtbuildin.../page24bj1.html DOLGELLEY (O) - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/79053-cambrian-and-gwr-0-gauge-loft-layout-building-baseboards/ Branchline Layouts DINAS MAWDDWY (7mm) - http://forum.gn15.info/viewtopic.php?t=5305 LLANFYLLIN - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/80077-llanfyllin-branch/ TANAT VALLEY - http://apavalley.blogspot.co.uk/ Oswestry Area Layouts OSWESTRY (2mmFS) - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/82283-oswestry-in-2mm-fs-1955-65/ OSWESTRY WORKS (P4) - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/78071-oswestry-works-diorama/ Fictional Layouts JOHNSTOWN ROAD (7mm) - Fictional 1908 Cambrian layout owned by Barrowmore Model Railway Group EATON GOMERY (OO) - Fictional 1908 Cambrian/GWR/LNWR junction, station buildings based on Montgomery by Leamington & Warwick Model Railway Society GENNIGAEL (OO) - Fictional Mid-Wales line Terminus, GWR & BR(W) by RosiesBoss ABERGWYNANT (EM) - Fictional branch between Arthog and Penmaenpool SARN (4MM) - Fictional Branch based on Kerry by Corneliuslundie Edited February 13, 2015 by alanbuttler

alanbuttler
Cheers Chris! I'll have a read through that this evening. Looks like Cwm Bach is coming on nicely Did you ever find out if the 15 Class got down there?
RMweb Premium Neil Posted March 18, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 18, 2014 A couple of gaps to fill; there's Shell Island (EM branch off the coast line at Llanbedr) and Abergwynant (EM branch terminus between Arthog and Penmaenpool). I still have Shell Island, boxed up safe and sound upstairs but I sold Abergwynant to Martin Jones (Martin back in an hour Wales) who then flogged it on after a couple of years. I'm afraid that the links here are a bit feeble; I'm sure that the heyday of both layouts coincided with the earliest incarnations of the forum and have escaped the archives. Quarryscapes
You can almost see my house on the backscene to Rhydyclafdy There are hundreds upon hundreds of Festiniog based layouts, you may want to lose that section! Eaton Gomery is 4mm scale, EM I think. Fictional Cambrian - LNW - GW joint station. There is a largish layout of Dinas Mawddwy in 4mm about too, not forgetting this: http://thechroniclesofpenhydd.blogspot.co.uk/

5050
There are my various attempts at modelling a standard gauge line up the Glyn Valley as originally conceived with a link to the Cambrian just south of Ellesmere. These started with my 00 gauge original 'Preesgwyn' in around '72 which gradually developed into the Wakefield GWR group 'Ceiriog Valley' layout. The my first P4 'Preesgwyn' around '82 and then 'Lower Pandy' in the late 90's (ish). Somewhere there should be some photos................................

RosiesBoss
G'day, all, Inspired by alanbuttler's post of 19 March, I've taken the time to finally document my little display layout, a fictional branch terminus with a Mid-Wales theme in its stock. Here's a link: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/83929-gennigael-a-fictional-mid-wales-branch-terminus/ Regards, Rob
81A Oldoak
Cheers Chris! I'll have a read through that this evening. Looks like Cwm Bach is coming on nicely Did you ever find out if the 15 Class got down there? We think the Cambrian Class 15 got into South Wales via the B&M, but still no photographic evidence has come to light. I am busy laying track on Cwm Bach.

5982
Hi Alan Another addition to the Cambrian list is my "Caernarvon (Castle)" in N gauge. Yes, I know that Caernarvon was LNWR - but the line from Afon Wen was built by Carnarvonshire Railway as a branch from the Cambrian, the LNWR only got their sticky mits on it because the Cambrian were strapped for cash at the critical moment. So, what if the Cambrian had bought it ... it would have remained a branch off the Cambrian, possibly vying with Pwllheli in importance as a northern terminal. The tunnel under Caernarvon would never have built, so we can claim the Llanberis branch for the Cambrian as well. There is even the prospect that the Welsh Highland could have got the route they wanted to Caernarvon docks (blocked by the LNWR / LMS in real life) and had better fortunes as a result. Hence the "(Castle)" in the station name to distinguish from the other station in town. Early stages yet - station area track is laid (adapted from Pwllheli) but not yet operational. Not much photography done yet either, but will post some progress when I get the chance. Brian Edited April 18, 2014 by 5982
RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted April 19, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 19, 2014 Don't hold your breath but I have the baseboard (just one 4 ft by 2 ft) for Sarn, a very fictional rewrite of the Kerry branch, as well as the pointwork half built. On hold for a couple of months while I am abroad.
cambriancoaster
I have recently posted a video of Phil Greaves' Rhyd-y-Clafdy layout onto Utube which I thought you might like to view. To my mind Phil's layout is a superb portrait of the proposed extension of the Cambrian Coast Railway to the north coast of the Llyn Peninsula as it might have been in the early 1960s. CC I saw this layout at Porthmadog a while back, didn't see the name initially and was stood wondering why it looked so familiar, before I recognised the view and twigged! My house is behind some trees on the backscene!
RMweb Gold John B Posted May 22, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2014 The East Hants Area Group of the Scalefour Society, of which I was one some 11+ years ago, used to hold regular meetings in the workshop of Dr Alan Coppin. He had built an exquisite, only somewhat compressed, P4 model of Aberystwyth - just the Standard Gauge side - set in GW years. He sold it around 2002/3 - not sure what became of it. Along another wall of the workshop was an embryonic Cambrian layout, again in P4. Alan was a retired dentist, and constructed everything with the meticulous attitude of a surgeon. The buildings on Aberystwyth were masterpieces, as were his locomotives and rolling stock. A very modest chap, his models were never exhibited, nor did they make the "press", more's the pity. I learned a lot from him..

81A Oldoak
Here are some photos of my interpretation of a might-have-been terminus at Abersoch. Although its partner Boduan Junction has been lifted to make way for my 0 gauge Cwm Bach layout, Abersoch is still in situ. The main station building and signal box were inspired by those that stood at Afon Wen. The goods shed was very loosely inspired by the one at Carmarthen. The locomotive depot is based on the modern BR design at Templecombe on the S&DJR. The S&T depot buildings were based on the structures at Machynlleth. The Dukedog is an etched brass kit whose provenance I forget; it has been comprehensively one-upped by the new Bachmann model.
