andytrains
Unfortunately we have had to cancel the show in November this year. The venue, CEME, Rainham, Essex, have increased their charges for the premises by three fold plus. They also wanted to move us from the hall area to the other side of the building which is basically a large open plan communal area with rooms off them. There would be issues with this area as the sides are unshaded glass, over two floors tall and south facing. So anybody operating facing the windows, if sunny, would make it almost impossible. The rooms are poorly lit. This was two-thirds less floor space than the area we previously had. We have tried to get a new venue for this year, but this has not come to fruition. The show will definitely take place next year once we have got a new venue. Andy. Secretary, East Ham and District MRC.
PaulG
Sorry to hear of the problems, as the exhibition has always been a very good and the venue probably the best of all the exhibitions I've attended over the past 40 years! How many exhibitions do you go to where the floor covering is carpet - very easy on the feet! Paul
Baby Deltic
Maybe you could try the hall where the Leytonstone show used to be held.

RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted April 17, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 17, 2014 I have been for the last two years and have really liked the show and venue. I'm sorry to read about the problems and look forward to attending wherever you finally find. Tony
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted April 17, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 17, 2014 I always thought that the old Tilbury Riverside station concourse would make a great exhibition hall. Its a listed building so it can't be demolished.
RMweb Premium Nile Posted April 18, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 18, 2014 This leaves a bit of a hole in East London this autumn, with the Ilford & West Essex show moving to spring next year. Have you considered the venue they use, St. Edwards School Romford, as a stopgap?
andytrains
Baby Deltic: The church that the Roding Valley MRC had their exhibition in in Leytonstone would not be suitable as it is only available on Saturdays and there is the restricted parking in the area. Nile: We have not looked at St Edwards school as yet. Phil: I have never been to Tilbury Riverside station. Looking at it on the web it is used as a passenger terminal for cruise ships and parking has to be pre-booked. The decision to cancel this year was made by the club in view of the un-certainty of getting a venue and the fact that it would be messing the public, exhibitors, demonstrators and traders about. Xerces Fobe2
A long shot however - I could suggest a hall in Maidenhead if you wanted to hold the show in another location. Nigel

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted April 22, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 22, 2014 The IPMS have an annual show every March at Hornchurch using the sports hall at Harrow Lodge. http://southernexpo.co.uk The hall is slightly smaller than the one you used but is a regular shape. The one drawback is the lack of car parking facilities but this is compensated for by several bus routes from Romford/Hornchurch/Upminster.
RMweb Premium Nile Posted April 22, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 22, 2014 Phil, I'd estimate that the hall used at Hornchurch is a least twice the area of the one used at CEME. There is free parking in nearby side roads, if you don't mind walking a bit.
Brian D
Shame. I really like this exhibition and haven't missed any of the Rainham shows. IIRC the show was previously held at East Ham Town Hall - is this no longer an option? Regards,
andytrains
Have you tried the Goresbrook Leisure Centre? Phil. Apparently Goresbrook Leisure centre is now closed. Brian. East Ham Town Hall was not ideal, again restricted parking and the hall is on the 1st floor with only one small lift to access the floor. Not ideal for Exhibitors and Traders all trying to get their gear in or out at the same time. We are still looking and are awaiting replies from several venues. Andy. East Ham & District MRC.
