Oooo a Hamer, Paul Reed Smith copy, I'd prefer a real PRS Santana special.

Nice Blue finish too.

They both now have Fender guitars, Kelli also has a Fender bass  with three strings. Peyton plays bass (with 4 strings) on a couple of songs, I cannot recall what make it is.

If I could get this Bloody new website to accept my  attempts at compressing shots!!!! I'd post a shot of my late Springer, Meg. Bred by my sister from another mother, Fiona, and my constant companion for 15yrs until the big C got her!!! She loved railway travel, all sorts narrow gauge up to big trains!!! She spoilt me for Springers and I still miss her!!

                                                                                                                              Chris.

Hi Chris

I know the feeling, I still miss Yo Yo much more than the other dogs that have lived with me. They all have been smashers but Yo Yo had something else about her, but I don't know what it was.

Here is Bella, taken seven years ago. She's now thirteen and her muzzle is a lot whiter. She's just had a lump removed from her right foreleg. The veterinary nurse described as geriatric. The cheek of it.

Nearly the same then: springer and lab. Our springer tends to sit or even lie. That's why it takes two of us to do it.

It took two of us to  groom our cocker, one  to wield the clippers the other to keep him plied with dig biscuits. He hated being groomed but loved  biscuits more than he hated grooming, so he would be as docile as anything while chewing his biscuit, then become totally unmanageable unti another biscuit was produced, and so it went on till the job was done.

It was the same going for a walk over the park. He would run round quite happily until it was time to have his lead on to back on to go home , then he would come and stand just out of reach until a biscuit was produced then he would move closer, collect the biscuit and let me put the lead on. It's called blackmail.

And some say dogs aren't intelligent.

Our operator seems to be better behaved to day and so does that coach.

Last night I ran a two car semi fast from Manchester with a Parcels and Luggage DMU coupled on the rear. Once it arrived at Sheffield the Parcels van was detached and shunted itself to the end loading dock to be loaded and to collect the  GUV that was sitting there and take that back to Manchester. The way the station layout is the Parcels van could not get across to the L&YR lines and home. I had to shunt forward on the GNR line and reverse into a platform to access the ex LMS line.

Today we have seen quite a few local DMUs tooing a throwing, along with the four coach DMU replacement set out again. The late running Blackpool to Cleethorpes is waiting for a path so it can  depart, it was hauled to Sheffield by a Standard Class 4 4-6-0 following the failure of the Sulzer Bo-Bo at Preston.

As well as the local trains the Transpennine Hull to Liverpool has arrived, as has the Harrogate express DMU. It was nice seeing two six car DMUs running at a realistic but fast speed.

At the moment is a Bradford via Barnsley semi fast pottering along with a Leeds via Doncaster semi.

I just lost a train ......there was this 3 car class 104 running on the outer track, and then it was gone. I hadn't placed the entrance point to the Doncaster sidings back to normal and it had run form one fiddle yard straight into the other.

And I thought I was doing well.

Been shunting tonight. The steam loco yard had a delivery of coal and two coaches were taken out of the parcels train that arrived mid point of the swapping of the coal wagons.

A J50 arrived with the full wagons (use yer imagination)

After shuffling back a forth the J50 picks up the empties and places them in an empty siding. It then puts the fulls in the coal road.

Having pulled the empties on to the headshunt the operation stops because of the arrival of two trains into the station.

The two trains are the empty parcels and the 2 car hybrid BRCW and Derby unit.

The next thing we see is the station pilot moving.

100_5710a.jpg.8f2ccc47b9292a91aa9f8124ef360402.jpg

It shuts back on to the recently arrived empty parcels train. The shunters at the carriage sidings didn't have the time to re-marsal the train so the two vans required to be placed in the end loading dock were on the end. We can see the pilot in the background being coupled up to the parcels vans.

The signalman gives the all clear for the coal empties to shunt back and then on to platform 7 so the loco can run round.

As soon as the J50 is safely inside the signals at platform 7 the pilot moves on to the GNR line ready to shunt back into the end loading dock.

While the shunter was busy sorting out the brakes and uncoupling the two vans the J50 has run back and crossed over to platform 8 and is waiting for the signalman to allow it to complete its move and run round the empties. 100_5716a.jpg.de9cd7656b0fc121634a976ea7b9829f.jpg

Now already to depart.

100_5717a.jpg.4822eceeab3e27048391ef81d500781b.jpg

Before it can the station pilot shunts the three 4 wheelers back to platform 4 ready for loading with parcels to various towns in Lancashire.

At long last the crew on the coal train can get back to shunting in the local goods yard. 100_5719a.jpg.67382c0e9dd1586610671f8737e67f58.jpg

The station pilot shunts back into the middle siding.

I had an up loading problem earlier as well on Bala Town.

I ran a few trains today with very few operating errors. I really like running long DMU trains. I also had a pair of six coach non-gangway trains running tonight at that looked good. I also put tops on teh platform ramp mock ups.

The train set is all ready for a visitation by Mr Duck tomorrow.

I hope he likes

Instead of walking the dogs i have been sitting here wondering if I should as Andy to split this thread into two, one for mk1 and one for the monster I have now?

I will have a think about it while I walk the dogs.

Dogs have had their walk but I still don't know. There are quite a few pages where I waffle on about moving to the ranch which says good bye to mk1 and introduces Mk2 nicely. They would make no sense if left with Mk1 or on the front of Mk2. On the other hand after page 20 something the blighter has quadrupled in size.

You could edit the first post to read 'mk2 starts at post xx, mk1 is the previous incarnation and explains why the layout was changed' in big bold letters at the top. Or words to that effect.

Now who has his thinking head on today :declare:

I will work out how to do that once Mr Duck has vacated the train room.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in your empire today. Expect it would be uproariously

entertaining with the two of you present.

Enjoy yourselves.

And I'd vote for keeping the whole story as 1 volume. I read it all, why should somebody

else have it in bite size pieces?
