This is exactly the sort of thing that expo is all about - come and enjoy some fantastic modelling, learn some thing new and go away inspired....

Derek is putting on another great show with a terrific line up so get along if you can.

I'm hoping to be at Expo EM North tomorrow afternoon (Saturday 13th). I can have a tablet computer running Templot with me if anyone would like 10 minutes help with the program.

(And assuming we can find a table and chairs somewhere -- I have not visited this venue before.)

Please bear in mind that I would also like to see the show. So please no requests to fit Crewe into 4ft x 2ft while-u-wait, or convert a back of an envelope sketch into a finished layout plan on the hoof. smile.gif

This would be just a few minutes help with using the Templot program.

Looking forward to the show.

Martin.

Just ordered my train tickets for Manchester for tomorrow, plus Shipley next week. They seem to come thick and fast, this time of year. Considering sticking a small copy of my avatar on my jacket, so that people can say hello or head the other way according to taste. I've got all my train times writted down on a piece of paper and printed off a Google map showing the bus route from Man. Piccadilly to the venue - if that's not organisation I don't know what is. Yes, I know there's a bus laid on from Urmston station, but this gives me a little more flexibility. Perhaps I'll have a fellow passenger like the one who sat behind me last time, entertaining us all with her account to her friend of her education and career. In a cut-glass accent: "People think I must be super-intelligent because of my skill in linguistics, but all it means is that I can talk shite in twelve different languages ..."

Looking forward to Leeds City Wellington - and all the others!

it all worked first time, which was a very pleasant surprise.

Tony

But did you read the small print? "Past performance is no indicator of future returns".

Will it behave itself and play nicely from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon?

I hope you don't have the difficulties and embarrassment that I suffered last weekend as novice operator of a layout with both dodgy trackwork and exceedingly frail, unpredictable electrical qualities.....

Got  home about 10.  All layouts set up and 95% of the expected traders arrived - the rest due in the morning.

A good selection of RMweb worthies already here.

See you tomorrow. Come and see some real quality layouts, superb specialist traders and probably the best selection of demonstrators about.

Please make yourselves known and say hello we don't bite - honest.

Another super show by Derek and his capable team

Absolutely loads of bargains on the Members Sales stand which was extremely busy for the first two hours-then we bought out more stock (was co-opted onto the sales stand due to staffing shortages!) So really did'nt get a chance to shop or mingle till mid afternoon. But the bonus was less crowds to see superb layouts like Black Lion Crossing and Lime Street!

If anybody does find a blue Cravens 105 DMU it's mine with my name on the box!!!  Left behind Members Sales!

Co-opted and did a superb job of emptying my wallet in return for goodies!!!!!! ;) Very very happy with the purchases and thank you for your help Martin

I have to say it was a superb show with great specialist trade support and I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience of expoem.

Layout wise for me it was great to see London Road in the flesh as well as how Lime Street has developed since I last saw it in action many years ago. The other layouts on show were all a very high standard, it was like seeing the crème de la creme of the model layout world

The members second hand stall has to be congratulated on supplying some brilliant items, having had two looks during the day the items on offer were at bargain prices and a get range of regional items

Derek and the team have done a superb job and I hope to see you all there again next year.

Only too happy to help a fellow modeller!

I think the thought whilst standing in front of a sales stand at a show like this is 'Where am I going to see stuff like this again, and at such low low prices?'

Having said that, you should also count in the build factor-that is 'how long would a similar item, if indeed still available, take to construct?'

On both those factors, I think the Members Sales stand wins hands down!

So can we temp you to the Dark side of 18.2mm modelling then?

Very much enjoyed today despite the hassle in driving from the other side of Manchester. At least it was easier going home.

I can't really name a star layout as the overall quality is so good. First time I had seen Lime St with the roof on, and Black Lion looks really good. At most shows we are lucky to see two or three exceptional quality pieces of modelling, not be treated to a whole room full. Well done to Derek and the crew.

Very much agree with your sentiment there Martin, rough figures would be retail for what I bought of at least £90, and I paid you £50, not withstanding that only two of seven items are still available commercially, with the rest being second hand only and on everyone's favourite auction site they go for a ridiculous cost, and as you say I am not going to see them at that price again anytime soon

Some way in my future I may well consider a move to em as I was very much impressed with the quality on show today and trade support, but for now its 00 and skill set building

A very enjoyable show all round. I was disturbed, though, by a blatant case of identity fraud that took place before my very eyes.

One of these gentlemen is having trouble finding sheep that satisfy his particular needs. I can't imagine why.

Apologies for the poor quality of this picture. Nothing to do with it being taken on my phone...

:) :D :P
