Looking good what’s the plan Mike?

Well you might ask!

Other than a vague idea of what I want to finish up with there isn't a plan, I just makes it up as I goes along!

I didn't think I could incorporate ELJ into Wibdenshaw, but as it's too good to go to waste I had a good hard thunk about it.

I've moved the outer exit track from the centre of the board to the edge, cut away part of the baseboard I had already built, shortened ELJ a bit as you can see and let it into the board, it will need packing a bit as I am using 15mm ply to withstand Spanish conditions, but no great issues.

Now to work out what the heck I'm going to do about actually connecting all these tracks up.

Watch this space, or more specifically watch emgauge70's.

Yes mate but you will need to use a disc of metal behind the wheel so as not to distort the wheel or pull the tyre off. Steel would be best but brass would do.

That’s great thanks Lez

You cut a disc of metal the same size as the wheel and cut a slot from the edge to the centre so that it clears the axle and slide it behind the wheel and then pull on the metal disc.

I'm loving the curved diamond Paul. Very nice mate!

Thank you Lez I’m made up with it to as I was the one thing I thought let my original ELJ down slightly as the diamond was straight across the other line (I hadn’t mastered Templot back then so used C&L templates) and a stager diamond was an absolute nightmare to get right.

You're not alone with Templot mate I have real trouble with it. I'm gonna need a left hand double junction myself in the not to distant future and I'm absolutely dreading it. I've just about managed to do a B8 but I had real problems as I have zero CAD skills to start with and whilst you don't need CAD skills to use Templot I find the whole thing confusing to say the least.

I really struggled with it for about three years then it just clicked, if you need a hand let me know, I’m ok with the basics etc bus should be ok with a double junction 👍🏼

Threading chairs, 70 to be precise, in readiness for the next track laying opportunity, it just makes things far quicker!

I know what the numbers mean 😂

All done that, one section of rail will cover two points and a section of track between the two, I’ve said it previously but I have to say these check rail chairs are a real help.

Managed to get a lot more done than I expected today, but not sure when I’ll get more modelling time as I’m back playing with the real thing tomorrow on lates, also I’m also running out of rail and chairs 🙄 but if I can get the two sections of track down at the none junction end of the board I’ll ballast and weather it and do a ‘how to’ at the same time.

Hi Lez,

Lots of friendly help on the Templot Club forum for anyone who asks. For example, this video shows how to print a B-8 template in just a few clicks:

https://85a.uk/templot/companion/your_first_printed_template.php

If you find written instructions difficult to follow, why not join in one of our regular online Zoom meetings about Templot? All welcome -- you just need to be a member of Templot Club to gain access.

Join Templot Club (free): https://85a.uk/templot/club/index.php?register/

Next Zoom meeting is on 15th March, details (free): https://85a.uk/templot/club/index.php?threads/zoom-meetings-access-links.620/latest

cheers,

Martin.

I have just found this thread and I am very interested in track building, so shall watch your progress with interest

Thank you John, your track building has been an inspiration though and such a help when I first started out.  As you probably know though each time we build track we learn something new or find a way of improving it.

Thanks again

Due to all my trains being cancelled today I got an early dart so managed to get the lines leading to the junction finished.  Just the catch point and point blades now.

In case anyone was wondering where ELJ(EM)MK1 was, it has been surgically implanted into Wibdenshaw.

This board was going to be a non scenic part of the fiddle yard, but I couldn't let a fine piece of trackwork go to waste, I've now got to get creative on what to do with this board.

Great stuff Mike 😃👍🏼 so glad you managed to make you muse of it and what a great layout it’s become part of!

At last some more progress today!  The approach to the junction has had the droppers soldered into position and I’ve given the rail two coats of ‘Rusty Rails’.  I know there is still lots to do but I need more rail and chairs so I’m going to ballast and weather this section and do a ‘how to’ video.
