61661
BRM ANNUAL 2015 PREVIEW It's that time of the year again; the BRM Annual is due out shortly, packed with interesting model railways, projects and much more. With plenty to read and inspire your modelling, it's an ideal Christmas stocking filler, priced at £5.99, or just £3.99 for the digital edition (which, admittedly, is not as easy to put in a Christmas stocking...) The digital edition goes on sale later today at www.pocketmags.com/BRM, model railway shops and other specialist outlets will have it next week, and it's on sale in WHSmith stores from 26th November. If you're going to the Warley NEC show, you'll be able to buy copies from the BRM Stand (B04) over the weekend. Don't forget that BRM print subscribers receive a free copy, which will be posted out with the January edition of the magazine in early-December. BRM Annual - List of Contents * Andy York's favourite layout images of 2014 * FIVE Reader Layouts: Lyncombe Vale (OO, 1950s S&DJR) Grangemouth (OO, 1960s ScR) Tulloch Bridge (OO, 1980s West Highland Line) Sykes Bridge (O, BR(M) 1960s) Beeton Hough (OO, BR 1960s) * Bason's Buildings: 20 years of Paul Bason's building articles for BRM * Practical BRM: Tony Wright's Gresley coach conversion Masterclass - 12-page special * RTR Models: Who's Doing What in 2015? * Practical BRM: Scratchbuilt O gauge Cravens 25t breakdown crane * Interview: Ixion Model Railways * Practical BRM: Super-detail and improve a Graham Farish Class 37/0 * Prototype Inspiration: Diesel Brake Tenders * Practical BRM: Why Build a Diorama? It's a cracking read, with superb photography from the likes of Andy York, Nigel Burkin and Tony Wright and projects that should interest modellers of all skill levels, scales and eras. We hope you enjoy it! Ben
Tase
So digital subscribers don't get a free copy then?
Administrators SteveCole Posted November 12, 2014 Administrators Share Posted November 12, 2014 So digital subscribers don't get a free copy then? Hi Tase, No, digital subscribers don't get a free copy. The free copy is only for print subscribers as it has always been part of their subscription 'package'. Digital subscribers benefit from much, much cheaper rates hence we can't include 'extras' as part of their package. Apologies. Steve

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted November 12, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 12, 2014 I love the item 'RTR Models: Who's Doing What in 2015' - if 2014 is any guide it could be out of date before we've received our copies and definitely by around April. Mind you if it's telling us what will actually arrive during 2015 that could be even more interesting Some interesting looking layouts and 12 pages of Tony Wright's writings sounds a very appetising Christmas dish. Ozexpatriate
I love the item 'RTR Models: Who's Doing What in 2015' - if 2014 is any guide it could be out of date before we've received our copies and definitely by around April. A cogent summary of who announced what new items in 2014, and for each either the published status or status communicated on the record to a industry journalist, would certainly be a useful article. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted November 12, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 12, 2014 A cogent summary of who announced what new items in 2014, and for each either the published status or status communicated on the record to a industry journalist, would certainly be a useful article. Especially if it's right up to date for Warley announcements - that would be fast work!
61661
The 'Who's Doing What in 2015' article contains a full company-by-company summary of what has been announced, and where possible, dates we can expect to see them (although in many cases these are educated guesses based on current status and rate of progress). As the annual is out BEFORE Warley, it doesn't include the items that will be announced there, even though we know what most of them are! We're planning to run an extended and updated version of the article in BRM early in the New Year, taking into account any items announced in the meantime, and further updates on deliveries. One item has already jumped well ahead of the predicted release date given in the article - Hornby's Mk 2e coaches are arriving now, which is something of a surprise given the stage they were at when we last saw them. Such articles are almost always out of date within days of going to press, but we though it was important to round up everything that has been announced. davidw
With an op due on the 25th. I'll look forward to reading this whilst recovering.
AireValley1962
Purchased within five minutes of seeing this! I look forward to reading it - especially the Diorama feature and "Sykes Bridge." William
Xerces Fobe2
If you read the Hornby Exeter thread, you may wish to ponder whether you will have the option to purchase Hornby's models from 'real model shops' in future. Regards, John Isherwood. Who doing what, in what quantity, where's can I purchase it from, how much will the average price increase be next year and which manufacturers will still be around at the end of 2015 would be a great article, but not very palatable for some! L&Y
Is it me? But it makes the magazine look very expensive. May succumb to this though especially as I can no longer afford the magazine. I would actually like to see BRM without the free gifts & back to the old price..... Will have a look in Smiths.
daftbovine
I am sorry to say that I was very disappointed with the BRM Annual. I bought the digital version a few days ago and thought it was nothing special. I was hoping for at least one N gauge layout. I model in both 00 and N and gain inspiration from good modelling in any scale but I was hoping the annual would be a bit more representative of the hobby as a whole. I would have liked to see more pages too. To me it was just a rather overpriced and not very exciting magazine. It seems as though more effort had been put into the ordinary issues of BRM. I'll get my coat.

I'll get my coat. I'm afraid I'd have to agree with this... If it was part of my subscription and didn't have to pay any "extra" for it I wouldn't have minded, but I'm a digital subscriber. I too would have liked to have seen at least one in the 2mm scale area, but that's only because it's my area of interest. Considering the normal magazine costs less, is of better quality and comes with the added "free" DVD, this doesn't seem to be great value for money. Like I said, if your getting this included with your subscription, great... Otherwise I wouldn't loose sleep if you can't find a copy...
