Andy Y
Before doing the full post I thought I'd chuck in a quick "Where is this lovely spot?"
Guest
That's easy! Quite obviously it's... Haven't got a clue, sorry.
woodenhead
Almost looks like a model, only the very close foliage made me think different.
Guest
Almost looks like a model, only the very close foliage made me think different. If that's a model, I'm giving it all up... Looks like a prime candidate for a future cycle track though <sigh>...
Andy Y
Thankfully it is a real location. There would be access to cycle around it or even on it in short parts if you wanted to but thankfully it's not a cycle route.
bgman
I'd take a stab at Woody Bay, the old Lynton & Barnstaple ?
Andy Y
I'd take a stab at Woody Bay, the old Lynton & Barnstaple ? A logical call but incorrect I'm afraid; Woody Bay is a lot tidier but nowhere near as interesting.
RMweb Premium southern42 Posted January 17, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 17, 2015 Looks like the woody bit of the Wenford Bridge china clay route - Pencarrow Woods? That's got some hills in the background. https://www.rcts.org.uk/features/archive/image.htm?img=FAI2226&jpg=FAI/FAI2226.jpg&srch=&page=

bgman
A logical call but incorrect I'm afraid; Woody Bay is a lot tidier but nowhere near as interesting. Worth a stab eh! I've been there in both the untidy/ tidy states so I thought it might have been from the archives. It was the fencing and the distant hills that made me think of there. Teaser ! 'CHARD
Is it the Moorlands line from Stoke towards Leek?
Andy Y
I hope not. Maybe a view looking the other way helps a little.
Peter Kazmierczak
These are the sorts of quiet byeways I like. I was thinking something along the lines of Chard, above, too. Are we in England?
Andy Y
Are we in England? Yes would be the unhelpful answer; the more helpful one would be 'only just'. It's a location which has rarely been mentioned on RMweb.

Andy Y
Somewhere around Blodwell? No, but you're getting warmer. Are the Channel Islands in England? In a moment of madness, I thought Alderney... Nowhere as warm, in temperature or location. Between Oswestry and Llynclys? Nope.

RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted January 17, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 17, 2015 Somewhere near Craven Arms?
Andy Y
Is it 3 foot gauge? Nope, it's an unusual gauge sometimes quoted as one, sometimes another but looking at the trackwork I think that's probably fairly notional anyway. Somewhere near Craven Arms? Near is a relative term as I know some pubs that serve Robinsons cider in between the location and there so it would take a long time to get there.
