Northpoint
As it's such a nice day in Ohio today, as promised, some more pictures. As you will see, I have been paying some attention to the other end of the layout - some fence and some static grass.

Tove
Looking very nice. Now all you need is another staging yard at that end........ Brian.
Northpoint
Looking very nice. Now all you need is another staging yard at that end........ Brian. The staging is at the other end, Brian. Although one at that end would allow through running.....
F-UnitMad
Looking very nice. Now all you need is another staging yard at that end........ Brian. The only trouble with O is the space... I intended to add a staging yard at the other end of my "Portway Center" layout, but then I'd have nowhere long enough to set it up... I suspect Nick is at that point as well. cracking progress, Nick, by the way. What make is the security fencing? Ratio?
Northpoint
I got the fence on ebay - KS Laser Designs - http://kslaserdesigns.com/
Northpoint
More progress. Steve Williams came over yesterday with his excellent warehouse... .. and I set to work with some styrene to produce a compact loader for the long siding. Oh, and it has a name now - Midland, Ohio. Tove
That`s nice Nick. Is that made with a prototype in mind,or is it just a flight of fancy!!. Brian.
Northpoint
That`s nice Nick. Is that made with a prototype in mind,or is it just a flight of fancy!!. Brian. Thanks for the feedback. The warehouse is generic and the loader is based on a prototype in a Model railroader article from November 1999 which I had in my arcvhive.

Dr Gerbil-Fritters
Nick, I'm glad to see you're abiding by the law that says every US layout should have at least one Railbox... I saw dozens of them last week, more than I've ever seen before - they were in every train, and in every industrial spur it seemed. Next most common seemed to be Golden West Service boxes. Made me very happy to see so many old favourites. I need to buy more for my pike!
F-UnitMad
I like the built-in switching puzzle for the warehouse - you can spot boxcars at either door, but not both at once... I'm lacking both Railbox & Golden West boxcars MTH did a modern TTX "TBOX" Hi-Cube awhile back, but as seems the way these days, now it's out of production they fetch $illy Money if they show up on Ebay.com. Like the new layout name, too!!
Northpoint
Latest - an operator's office for the loader.
Alcanman
I'm liking this loader very much, Nick, and the layout, of course. Not having seen the original MR article, I'm intrigued as to what commodities the loader would be used for? Mal

Not having seen the original MR article, I'm intrigued as to what commodities the loader would be used for? Mal Hi Mal. It is used for agricultural products particularly corn and soybens. It is (was?) located on the NYS&W in Homer, NY.
