RMweb Gold DaveF Posted January 7, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 7, 2016 David, life has some priorities that really do go ahead of this time-waster hobby of ours. Good to see you have yours sorted in the right order Best wishes to your Mum, hope she recovers soon. Thank you very much indeed. David
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 7, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 7, 2016 Hi, Dave. I am so sorry to hear about your Mum. I hope that she will get as well as soon she can. I fully understand your situation, you have got things put in the right order of priorities. This happened to my Mum in late March of last year. Unfortunately for mine, after her fall she was not able to move even her fingers. Apparently she had suffered some form of stroke. Mum was in hospital until mid-June, and was then transferred to a care home in Driffield. I sincerely hope that your Mum, will recover enough to go back home. Mine can't, but it would be wonderful if your Mum can. With warm wishes, Rob.
RMweb Premium melmerby Posted January 7, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 7, 2016 Good on yourself, Dave. Family definitely comes before looking after us bunch of nutters on here. Good wishes to your Mum. My wife broke a leg last year and priorities change to suit the circumstances. Cheers Keith
RMweb Gold DaveF Posted January 8, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 8, 2016 Thank you once again for the messages of sympathy and support. Mum has now been seen by a number of consultants as she has several health issues. All being well she will soon be moved from the emergency hospital to a small hospital which specialises in rehabilitation, again quite close to here. I have my fingers crossed. In theory the time I spend visiting her is about the same as the time I normally spend with her each day so things should be easier once I get into a new routine. I still have a small number of photos captioned ready to post so will continue to do so over the next few days. Today we are back in Denmark. Allegheny1600
Hi David, I'm very sorry to hear about your mum, here's hoping she makes a good recovery and can maintain her independence. I know all too well how hard it is looking after our older loved ones, my mum was poorly in France(!), after she passed, we brought my dad back to England to care for him for a few years, now we care for my wifes parents. All the best, don't worry about the photos, they'll still be there when you've more time. Cheers, John.
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 8, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 8, 2016 Hi, Dave. Lovely photos of Denmark which you have found time to post earlier today. I remember when my Mum was in the A&E in Hull. Then after about two weeks, she was transferred to the Community Hospital here in Beverley. It was in there that she had some kind of stroke. She has never walked or been able to do anything else independently since then. Your Mum is more strong willed and independent than mine was, and, hopefully she will be able to go home after a suitable period of recuperation. I really hope that she can make it back home, Dave. Warmest regards, Rob.

There are a number of German DVDs of the Harzquerbahn (and other narrow gauge lines) in winter. Offhand I cannot remember which firms do them but they are worth looking out for. I always feel cold watching them, even in summer.
