Hi Callum. I should have added a thanks for putting all the photos up now that all the track is down. I think it looks great and shows that a 'small' garden railway can be quite fun. I guess it helps having the pond and the bridges, but I find it inspiring looking at the photos.

No worries mate. Glad you like it! I got another update video on the way, covering all the work in those pictures. Plus I can confirm, that the first running video has been filmed and will follow shortly after... :locomotive:

Ooooh, very fancy !!!!! Is this the 3rd loco on B&BLR simply that the loco is No.3 ?

Well she is the second loco I have purchased, but her running No. on her cab is 3. Ironically the first loco the Orange one is No.1. But... Lets I have a 3rd loco and it's running number fills the gap...  :jester:

The 5th Update on the G Scale Garden Railway Project, and again there has been lots of work completed, plus a few milestones reached!
The missing track mentioned in the last updates has arrived, completing the full circuit and passing loop. With it in place ballasting has started to commence, and it really does make a huge difference to the look of the line.
As well as the track laying and ballasting there has also been a few changes to the original design of the railway, which can be seen in the later part of this update.
With the majority of the track-work now complete I think a test run is in order very soon...
Hope you enjoy!

Well, the moment we have all been waiting for... The first running session on the Garden Railway! As can be seen the first run was a great success, with no derailments or other major problems. The run has highlight a few things that need changing and improving in the near future, but nothing too major.
Also, as can be seen in the title of the video, the railway now has a name. The Blagdon & Butcombe Light Railway (B&BLR), named after two nearby villages on the shores of Blagdon Lake. Think the names has a nice little ring to it, so please tell me what you think!
The Engine featured is LGB 90470 ToyTrain Starter Set, which I recently reviewed. Though she has now gained the name B&BLR No.1.

Hope you enjoy!

A Driver's Eye View of the Blagdon & Butcombe Light Railway (B&BLR), filmed from the Cab of B&BLR No.2 on a Permanent Way train. It video really does show the challenging route the line takes, including sharp curves, narrow cuttings and crossing a section of Blagdon Lake.
With the final work and checks being completed, it is hoped the B&BLR will re-open to Public Passenger Service in the very soon, after years of restoration.
Hope you enjoy!

Saturday 15th August 2015 saw the Blagdon & Butcombe Light Railway operating it's first Public Passenger since the lines closure in 1966. The day featured two passenger rakes hauled by two members homefleet, Stainz 0-4-0T's B&BLR No.2 and No.3. The day was a huge success, proving very popular with the visiting public. It is hoped to have a full operational timetable very soon, featuring more public dates, event and even galas.
Loco in action;
Stainz 0-4-0T No.2
Stainz 0-4-0T No.3
Hope you enjoy!

Lovely videos. On the last one, I thought the short wheelbase coaches looked much more at home - possibly because of the sharpness of the bends. Also liked the giant dog in the background :-)

This has been an inspiring thread and it's amazing how much you have accomplished in just one summer.

Thanks ever so much Jon! Glad you have enjoyed the progress and videos. Yes, totally agree there! Hopefully will get a bit more running done this Summer, as well as work on that new siding too. More to come!

Sorry for the lack of updates and progress on the Railway lately. August has been a bit of a wash out to be honest... :scratchhead: But there has been a bot of excitement! :locomotive:

This morning saw a quick visit to a fellow G scale Garden Railway, the Hope Garden Railway or HGR for short. Amazing to think there are other G Scale modellers in the area and thanks to pages like this and my videos, he got in contact and asked if I would like to visit! How could I refuse!

Well what I can I say! The Hope Garden Railway is certainly something else! More like a real railway network than G Scale Garden Railway. With automated point signals, pointwork, plus much more! Really is unbelievable! Plus the sound too!
Sadly the weather changed all to quickly, but managed to get a good little video of some running before hand, plus a few pictures.

Massive thanks to Tim for the invite and hope to visit again soon.

Trust me the pictures and video don't show off it's true size!  :jester:

Saturday 5th September saw a quick visit to a fellow G scale Garden Railway, the Hope Garden Railway or HGR for short. I was contacted by Tim (owner of the HGR) and asked if I would like to visit! How could I refuse!
Well what I can I say! The Hope Garden Railway is certainly something else! More like a real railway network than G Scale Garden Railway. With automated point signals, point-work, plus sound too, it really is a sight to behold!
In action was a good mixture of stock, including ICE High Speed Train, DB Schenker Class 66 and Industrial 0-4-0ST 'Kilmersdon'.
Locations;
0:22 ICE High Speed Train, Over View
1:11 ICE High Speed Train, passing Lions Head Loop
1:33 ICE High Speed Train, speeding past the Harbour
2:07 DB Class 66, storms past the Harbour
2:50 DB Class 66, thundering past Rockery Loop
3:15 'Kilmersdon', shunting and depart around Rockery Loop
5:03 'Kilmersdon', trundling though Swampy Bottom
Sadly the weather changed for the worst after a few shots, but it is hopefully another visit is on the cards. Again massive thanks to Tim for the invite!
Hope you enjoy!

The 7th Update on the G Scale Garden Railway Project.
With August being a bit of a wet month, not much has happened. Thanks to rain, a few areas of improvement have been highlighted, especially with the ballast. Thankfully the weeds have not come back, which is a good sign, and the only real bit of work needed to get the line operational again was a slight trim of some of the lineside plants and a good clean of the rails.
As of yet no more progress has been made on the Pond side Siding, but there has been the new addition of the solar powered light house and a display cabinet for B&BLR Fleet.
I would also like to say a big Thank You to Tim, of the Hope Garden Railway.

Hope you enjoy!
