Show us your.... photos of detailed modeled loco's

I was doing some research on the old RMweb a few days ago and I cam across the "show us your...." topics. There was some great stuff there (especially in the Class 37s!).

So I thought it would be nice to start a similar topic here....

I won't post any photos for now as I don't really have any models that are exceptionally detailed (but I'm working on one!!)

Well, I suppose it's an excuse to get my trusty old Brassmasters-enhanced Black Five a bit of exposure! :D

And how well it looks too. I'm impressed by the rusty coal space and to the rear of that by the water filler, parts not often coloured in this way. Considering the battering this area took every day, this weathering is totally realistic even on the cleanest of engines.

Nice one Dave, that's spurred me on! I've not been able to do any modelling for a while but that image has made the urge to return to my Black Five, even stronger. Yours is a long way towards what I'm aiming for with mine… except that I made a bit of a mess with the Brassmaster bits on the rear deck so it will need to be rusted and 'freshly flooded' with 'water' to dusguise it.

Here is my newly weathed 08 shunter, i achived this look by covering a small area in paint and wipin it off with cotton buds, but always copy photographs of the locos your weathering, never guess and when you say to yourself "that could use with a bit more dirt" STOP! and thats bacicaly how i weather my diesels.

As I've not posted any of my own work on here before, I thought I'd add the model I've just about finished to this thread.

Kentish Town's 45649 Hawkins with Stanier 3500 gallon tender.

Forgot to say this is a Farish Jubilee body with Nigel Hunt 2mm chassis and 3500 tender kit.

Given my current rate of progress it will be a couple of years before I have anything else to show!

That looks most impressive Ian! I'm guessing wildly that it's a Hornby body with a Comet cab, tender and 'bits'… but I'm confused as the level of detail makes it look more like 7mm. Do you have a build thread for this? By the way, thank you for the 504 EMU interior info!

Hi, it's the Modern Outline Kit in 7mm with AGH wheels. No build thread unfortunately as most of the work was carried out almost 10 years ago ! Yes I was away from the hobby for a while and it was "in storage".

My pleasure to help out in any way I can with the 504's :D

This is just about ready for public consumption but it definitely needs further work on the weathering, to say nothing of my photographic skills.

Bachmann Caprotti Standard 5 73139.

I don't just do diesels.......

Built this long before the Bachmann version was announced.

90561 working off Springs Branch in the late 1950's - complete with LMR and WR style lamp irons on the front. (Apologies for the bent vac pipe)
