  1. At last! Great announcement, a full Cowley rake could break the bank! I'll be having a few sets for sure.
  2. Good news, Hanson definitely a notable omission previously. Unfortunately for my wallet that means I'll be after 4 of the next batch ! Hope they have sorted the lights on the 59/1s as still not seen a fix.
  3. Hi Will, Do you need anything out of the ordinary to programme in Lokprogrammer? Or do they read fine without a motor on the track? Hadn't thought to try on a Lokprogrammer but will give it a go if it's simple enough.
  4. How long did the rooves stay unweathered shiny black though? A few weeks? Appreciate these are not weathered models, but some more accurate roof colours as per day-to-day service would be welcome, from all manufacturers. I've bought a couple of Halfords grey spray cans to have a go at starting to distress the rooves. Re magnetic couplings - I've actually fitted mine upside down to hide them better. I don't know which way is correct but they work both ways.
  5. That boat train is in demand! Bachmann 2A BFK added to the rake (for now), and someone's chucked a 50 out from Bournemouth, outrageous: Such smooth runners these Mk2Bs, credit to Accurascale they glide round our 24ft long layout with ease. In need of a blue/grey BFK for a Pompey-Cardiff train, foolishly left it too late. Anyone spotted any? (Not in Germany)
  6. Great layout, saw it in Hornby mag and would love to see it in the flesh. In light of the discussion around dark blue NSE Mk2As not being on the WoE if you need anyother complete rake for Reading drop me a PM! Though the picture of the Thames rake 'on hire' with the Mk1s is a tempting reason to keep hold of them.
  7. Presumably this tallies from BR coaching stock group: "According to P5 stock book on 1st Jan 1991 All 8 remaining Mk2b and all 5 remaining M2c FKs were allocated to EH (NWXX pool) in various NSE variations and used on the boat train. Without getting out the Mk2 Harris book I think all MK2c FKs had the later body style with single loo window and the a/c roof hatch" This is my favourite pic of a boat train behind 33102. As far as I can see all look like Mk2bs to me and all a pretty uniform blue colour. blockquote widgetblockquote widget
  8. This is something of a similar solution to my problem! I have both dark blue and light blue rakes, and dark blue FKs for the boat train. Unfortunately the Bachmann 2A FKs just do not match in any way to the new Accurascale light blue 2B FKs (colour, stripe proportion, ride height etc) so they're going for a complete rake of Accurascale 2B FKs, which was correct for the Waterloo- Southampton boat trains (I was trying to be cheap by using some 2As) The light blue 2A TSOs sit well next to the Accurascale 2Bs, so happy with them in one rake. The dark blues will then sit within their own rake, so will likely have to repaint the 2C TSOT when that arrives so it is a better match.
  9. Just picked up another 3 NSE FKs for the boat train after luckily seeing them in stock, had subscribed for notifications of back-in-stock items but didn't get anything. Probably a good thing otherwise I'd have bought more NSE TSOs! Had loyalty credit but stuck with the 10% and will keep the voucher for another time (50 obviously...) Presumably you can either use the voucher or have 10% off 2+, as opposed to both? When I tried to use the voucher it removed the 10%. Anyway whatever it costs very very pleased with the ones I've received so far, so good I decided my dark blue Bachmann NSE 2As need to be offloaded/repurposed.
  10. Mine have arrived this morning, very pleased, but all 10 have only one coupling fitted at one end with the other as above in the 'spares' pack, never seen a model delivered like this before! No bother as all being replaced with No. 17 Kadees or Very Short Hunts. Pictured with my two previously acquired modern weathered ones to give me 12.
  11. Still waiting on mine direct from AS, but just had an email to say Warwells on the way! Hopefully the Mk2bs aren't far behind.
  12. A welcome privatisation announcement, but did they have to do 31452 as Hornby have done it? Couldn't have had 31128, 31454 31459 or 31602? Hopefully Kernow pull a Wessex trains one out the bag.
  13. Yep happened in the mid-late 90s with a down turn in Mendip stone traffic, details in this caption: Perhaps Sir would prefer a Yeoman 59/0 with his ore?
  14. Has anyone had a go at correcting the lighting on the 59/1 or /2? Thanks to posters in this thread I sorted my 59/0 this week and very pleased (need to yellow the colour and prevent light bleed into tail lights). I started fiddling with my 59/1 and unfortunately have now lost the headlight at one end, grrr. May remedy by moving the left marker light to the headlight location as I very rarely change to night running. But, there must be a wiring fix to do this correctly, which I imagine involves splitting the markers and wiring them to the opposite day/night light. Both now sound fitted with excellent Biffo sound, and the 59/0 has the new ESU speaker which is a big improvement on the EM1 setup in the 59/1, tho still acceptable - just quieter!
