DapolDave
Weathered Megafrets Hi everyone, first day back in the office after a protracted illness going back 12 weeks and a trip to China, but i have some info for you all. As you all probably know, we produced a limited run of Weathered (using the Mercig Weathered example as a template) Megafret wagons for Trainlines of Derby. Trainlines of Derby retired about 3 weeks before we could deliver them and as such they have stayed in the warehouse at Dapol pending a decision on them. We have decided that as we have not made enough models to supply all our stockists, even if they only took their allocated models due, this would be unfair. So, we have decided that we will release this model for General sale starting at the Warley show this weekend. We will then also release some we are keeping back for those that want them via our website early next week. Whilst the weathering would normally command a premium, we have decided to sell these at standard proces of £27.95 per 2 car set. Please visit Nikki or Sam on the stand to take 1 away with you over the weekend. cheers Dave Dapol Ltd
Charlie
Since I'm working this weekend and unable to go to Warley, how soon after will you be putting them up on the website?
puffmeister_general
Hi, I've been checking daily on the Dapol website for these models, I assume they all sold out at Warley?
Gulliver
I never saw any at Warley at all.
RMweb Gold Godfrey Glyn Posted December 1, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 1, 2010 I was not able to get to Warley this year so I rang Dapol on the Monday after and ordered two over the phone. They arrived last week; I am quite impressed and I will certainly be using them as a exemplar when spaying my two pristine versions. It might therefore be worth ringing Dapol ( 01691 774455 ) to see if they have any left. Godfrey
puffmeister_general
Godfrey, thanks for that. Dived onto the phone and ordered a couple of sets. For all your information there are 2 variants of the weathered versions. Due to Dapol being busy they haven't had a minute to place them onto the website but they will do so in due course - to secure your orders take Godfrey's advice and phone them! 97403_Ixion
Hi all, At least a day ago, Dapol still had these marvellous wagons in stock - indeed, get them while you still can! Below are some close up photos I took this evening for your perusal. I am pleased to say that the weathering makes them look a whole lot better than the light blue colour of the pristine versions in my view. Iso view: End coupling, side view: Inter-wagon coupling, side view: Middle detail: Pipework detail: Pair of wagons: I hope you like the photos and that they are not too big! Of course, you can always buy the pristine ones and weather them yourselves Cheers, Ixion.

RMweb Premium newbryford Posted December 15, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 15, 2010 Has anyone figured out a way to create a solid underframe without the separate swinging bit? Here's my solution: I cut off the skirt from the bogie using a razorsaw, and removed as much excess plastic as I could from the bogie. A spacer is glued to the main chassis using 30thou plasticard and the skirt is then fixed to it. A little bit of filler and a large dollop of weathering - these wagons seem to be one large lump of brake dust/track grime - and it'll be disguised. Tests have it down to about a 15" radius curve. Cheers, Mick
chriswild
That looks like a good fix Newbryford, certainly improves the look of the wagon straightaway and i'd imagine once prototypically heavily weathered will look the part. Seems to give a good degree of turning as well, just a shame Dapol couldn't have done that to start with eh? Chris
Bouncy Bouncy
Can we expect to see the Less CO2 containers being sold individually, along with the pack released last week?
