RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted November 8, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 8, 2013 You need to wire wool that varnish between coats and clean it with a tac cloth or damp lint free rag to achieve a sheen.
Jaz
Oooh thank you, I wonder if I can do that in patches, as I am building up the ripples as well. i have wire wool and lint free rag

Jaz
Sasquatch the first one seems to be a variant on SteveT picture, same cars on carpark The second one gives a better view of the little wall opposite, and how the footpath goes down to the waterfall, the short wall to the right further along means a small adjustment to the hillside. nice find thank you very much. Removed a/c
It is expensive but it does shine like glass. http://www.hollylovestoys.com/en/water/146-unrealdetails-magic-water-6fl-ozs.html My friend used it in his 1:32 diorama. http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?13805-Whaleboat-River-Diorama
Jaz
The britfarmer The first one looks interesting, though if the does 12cm dis at only 1cm, that would be really expensive, so dfar I have barely touched a pot of varnish, although I have a number of products to do finishing touches inc Deluxe Waves. It might do for a smaller one off product though. The second product for bedding in a boat looks really interesting. I'll look into that one further. I liked the later painted river the green edging was interesting.
jcredfer
Jaz, Just to note, unless your's may be a typo. and lint free rag Sasquatch referred to a Tac Rag ........ this is not just lint free, but has a sticky, waxy coating which dust sticks to. RMweb Gold westerhamstation Posted November 8, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 8, 2013 Hi Jaz you will get tac rags from amazon about £5 for ten, or try your local car spray paint supplier.
RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted November 8, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 8, 2013 You might find that they are called 'tac cloths' local hardawre store, about $1.80 here! Messers Downs and Robinson use PVA to achieve realistic water, it's gluppy so can be formed easily and dries clear . Cheap and simple. Although I haven't tried it. Jaz
PVA appears to be good if you are ok with thin water, and as it dries you can work it with say a toothpick. I want to stretch it and make some realistic looking effects, and try to be original. All ideas are worth looking at.

Amazing bit of painting Jaz, you must have steady hands. I don't think I could manage such detail on something so small and intricate. (For one thing, I wouldn't be able to see it!) Now, where's me white stick... Al.

I would refer you to the cover art for an album called The Imagined Village - a very good contemporary update of The Willow Pattern. It's really good music, too! Edit to add: Love the donkeys. My Mother would also very much approve Edited November 11, 2013 by C&WR
