Not too sure about Morris dancers, it reminds me more of a scene from Live & Let Die! ...............You know the one ...........A Bo bo!        All that voodoo and running across alligators .

Well we had a fabulous weekend, got on really well with Marcus, Diane and their son Anthony. He and my son spent a lot of time of the Xbox happy as sandflies.

We did not spend any where near as much time as we intended on the layout. and with such lovely weather went for two good walks. He has given Kal and myself some great information about the signalling, and advised how some lines should be designated. And, of course, as he know has seen the entire layout,

So this morning I started to take some photographs.

Thanks for all the suggestions, Jaz.  Something at School is also a non-starter as we are very pushed for space here too and I'm afraid the demarcation lines about who does what mean I wouldn't be encouraged to run a club, which is something which had crossed my mind.

I know how I will get round the issue when we're a bit more established , but it will require some building works.  In the meantime I may be able to put a plank up on some cross members in the internal garage and pull it out for work/play.  We'll see, with luck we will have a summer this year so I will mainly be outdoors!

Kalborough Union Staion

This area will eventually go onto 25mm PIR, but for the moment it is not a high priority.

So I intend to add more yellow lines, as they don't cost much. And populate it with appropriate detail such as lampposts. The left hand side is better, and the station needs some extra work. but for some pictures, and even some videos of trains running through at the back. This station is fairly useful. And deserved to be used more.

med_gallery_17883_2804_448905.jpgrmweb1815kalborounion1

the left had last shop also needs a little more pavement, which is fine as I have the met calf matching pavements. If the train was visible this picture would be a lot better. Perhaps later today.

with lights already on the building, this looks better, though weathering is probably also appropriate

med_gallery_17883_2804_545276.jpgrmweb1816kalborunion2

the station is Hornby's Terminus.

Panning around from Port Lynn Town, you move onto RAF Zollywood, the two are above Port Lynn Cover (which is the same height as Kalborough)

At the moment I have not taken any new pictures this weekend

Hosmeade rolls into Heartbeat.......where filming is under way........

We have another film crew, the local news heard about the Morris Dancers funeral and thought it too good to miss

med_gallery_17883_3001_445487.jpgrmweb1797heartbeat3

and some joker started taking pictures of them, the clapperboard man is now well confused

med_gallery_17883_3001_501403.jpgrmweb1798heartbeat4

and is now watching to ensure it is safe for them to film

med_gallery_17883_3001_547832.jpgrmweb1799heartbeat5

talking of safe to film, a certain someone is in his favourite spot  and is avidly watching........

med_gallery_17883_3001_157765.jpgrmweb1800heartgbeat6

the expensive film equipment........

Jaz,

Glad you had a good weekend and the layout is looking as good as ever.  I love the cameos.  I know some people get a bit funny about such things but I think they make a layout.

Question-  If the Hogwarts Express left from Kings Cross, why did it use a GWR locomotive?

When I was at ExpoEM on Saturday I saw a very good west country 1930s layout that had a cattle wagon with Friesian cattle in it.  I wanted to say, "Your cows are the wrong colour," but I did not think they would have found it funny.

that loco drives people crazy......it is not a Castle in the film....it is a Hall......Hornby obviously used a design they had.

Did Halls run that route? sorry my knowledge of steam locos is rudimentary to say the least....though I know a little about A4s

Jaz,

No.  Halls were a Great Western engine that would have run from Paddington and was the GWR equivalent of the LMS  Black 5.  (Ducks for cover.)  If it was an express it could easily have been an A4, or any other pacific locomotive or perhaps a B1, 4-6-0 which is the sample wheel arrangement as the Hall.  If you are interested, LNER Locomotives  (I am not a mine of information, I just know where to look.)
