  1. I was trying to get that completed a few weeks ago but it caused the chronic slowdown of performance. It is, however, completely unconnected and use of https would not have been of any benefit in this instance.
  2. I had a similar one yesterday (but with different title content) so it's of concern in light of the recent site attack and I will be investigating further. It could be completely unconnected though as such scammers have a multitude of replicating content which may have appeared in email inboxes previously. Do not open; just delete.
  3. RMweb is hosted on a completely separate server and database from the rest of the business.
  4. The DVD is for subscription/digital issues for the next few months at least Rich, newsstand copies have added value gifts or bundles.
  5. I sent yours out yesterday, cost me a stamp and an envelope it did.
  6. Use Ctrl+Alt+Del to launch the task manager and close the browser via the panel. I'm mystified how you've managed to post if your problem has sat there for 24+ hours unless you've got multiple device and left the problem on screen since lunchtime yesterday.
  7. Some Norton users have said the same on NGF but that seems to relate to an issue from 6 days ago. That's Norton.
  8. Some bits seem to be. This one came through Kiev so Vlad might not be guilty.
  9. Sheesh, I didn't think we'd been offline that long!
  10. Pah, the clocks hadn't even gone back when January was on the go! At the moment it's a case of sorting stuff for the Spring issue which will include a feature on the GMRC Missenden layout, finalising the entry list for the BMRA voting which opens on the 1st, tidying up the content relating to Hornby's announcements on the 7th plus the big task of the forum software upgrade which this incident has brought to more urgent prominence. In a status update I'd posted "When it first happens it's like being dropped on featureless moorland in the fog with a pair of headphones on blasting a speech by Ian Paisley into you ears. You've no idea where you are, which way is best to go with the distraction of whether to respond to anyone saying they've got a problem. You start feeling your way through the fog until you can find some landmarks to navigate by, refer to your maps and find your way back home." It's all perfectly logical in hindsight but historical evidence shows that the Christmas break is a time when things can and do go wrong so although time off is booked there isn't an option of waiting until Wednesday; the priority was to reduce risks for users but the guilt of frustrated users wanting their fix pushes you on to seek a solution (plus personal pride). I must admit though I slept well last night and didn't have to look at the site as soon as I woke to see if any spats had broken out etc.
  11. Users may have seen spurious pop-up ads and/or hijack pages and/or login boxes for a short period from around 13.00 to 13.25 yesterday before I took the site offline for remedial action. I don't believe any of those pages will have caused any issue to users' systems but I hope no-one attempted to put their login details into one of the spurious login boxes; if you did I would recommend installing and running the free version of Malwarebytes. There were two distinct issues caused by a hack which seemed to come via the Ukraine, these have been removed and functions tested but I still have some work to do. There may still be a vulnerability for recurrence but that will be worked on too. If there should be a repeat it should be quicker to resolve if it takes similar form. I'm sorry for the inconvenience but the best thing to do was to take the site offline to prevent risk to users whilst the issue was resolved.

    Dawn over Margate

Jeez, it was taken looking south over Pegwell Bay above the tunnel to Ramsgate Harbour. My own fault for starting a figurative topic with pedants around.
  14. Earlier in the year Phil and I had the pleasure of a day in the company of the legendary Dave Rowe. Dave doesn't model railways these days but as part of being a magnificent grandfather he has made many animated scenes and automata to entertain the family over the years. It's with great pleasure we filmed his Twelve days of Christmas scene and pass this gift on to you on the first day of Christmas.
  15. Likewise. Even their Christmas card has a touch of class even though it's really a subliminal reminder that any money you may receive for Christmas from loved ones is actually theirs held in trust by you, the receiver of such niceties.
  16. As already responded to - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/140637-not-secure/
  17. Arnold Brighton Belle and continental range items of note.
  18. Accessories The Skale Scenics, Skaledale and Skale Autos brands start to make a return to the range.
  19. Diesel/Electric locomotives - new liveries A selection of Class 66 liveries giving a value product from the ex-Lima tooling. I understand that retailers will be quipped to sound-fit these items giving a total price of around £100.
