  1. Our dignity in that Marklin My world video.
  2. I did lock it off as it was posted in the wrong area. My understanding is that there are discussions between the parties looking to resolve any supply issues which may be affecting customers so we just need to let them get on with that.
  3. The DCC area is currently divided into four areas - DCC Discussions / DCC Questions / DCC Fitting and DCC Sound. I take my hat off to Ron Ron Ron for always flagging up to me when topics have been posted in the wrong area and, believe me, I have a lot to thank him for as so many topics have to be moved. I'm doing some re-structuring at the moment and I'm of a mind to put it all into one forum area - plain old DCC. Can anyone raise a good reason for not doing so?
  4. How have you established that you were told a 'truth'?
  5. They've not gone; they're all in 'other' - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/forum/17-other-magazines/ I am carrying out some re-structuring of sub-forums.
  6. It's fair to say that the relationship works better, not just because of funding but also because of having a wider skill set and time availability for research, project management and marketing which can achieve far more than the resources of just a public-funded organisation which has to juggle many tasks in the course of their working lives and spend time navigating civil service and even local government matters.
  7. Response from Locomotionmodels.com Locomotionmodels.com is a brand of Science Museum Group Enterprises which is the trading company for all the museums in the Science Museum Group which includes the Railway Museum. The museums are funded by Grant in Aid from the Government which is supplemented by revenue from Corporate partnership membership subscriptions and its retail and catering outlets at York and Shildon. Admission to both museums is of course free for visitors. Locomotionmodels.com was established in 2012 to help to generate additional revenue for the Locomotion museum and for the care and display of items in the National Collection across the NRM. As well as an “in museum” shop in Shildon, the online business was established to continue producing models from the National Collection which are branded “National Collection in Miniature”. This was initially started by the NRM at York in 2006, in addition to selling the full range of models from the major manufacturers. The exclusive editions are produced for us by established model railway manufacturers. Some are produced from existing tooling and others from totally new tooling. Each project requires significant financial commitments for which SMG Enterprises has limited funds and often things which the business would ideally like to do are not possible consequently. Rails are Corporate Partners of the Railway Museum along with several other organisations which includes model manufacturers Dapol and Hornby. The Corporate Partnership and associated cooperation agreement with Rails have allowed us to expand the number of models we produce by sharing the commercial risk. This allows the costs of production to be shared between the partners and for the museum versions to be released under the Locomotionmodels range with other versions being released by Rails (the Dynamometer Car is an example of this). Rails are in return permitted access to retail some of the earlier models produced for Locomotionmodels enabling us to fund further models for future release. Rails is also able to help the business with market advice, promotion and reach as one of the largest retailers in the country with massive expertise. Without the input of Rails, the range of models available would be considerably reduced. The production of the Dynamometer Car would simply not have occurred without the partnership with Rails and we look forward to being able to introduce further iconic models for the “National Collection in Miniature” in due course. The partnership is currently working to produce the Terrier and the newly announced production Deltic are the most recent examples of products now in the pipeline which would not have happened otherwise. There are others which have yet to be announced. The partnership has real and tangible benefits both ways and is highly valued by both parties. It is not true that “Locomotion and its brand have massively missed out”. Both partners believe that the synergy of the two brands is benefitting both businesses equally. This is evident by the lift in sales and reach which Locomotionmodels has seen over recent months. Further developments will be seen over the coming months following the recent appointment of two new members to the Locomotionmodels team. 8. Bachmann Europe Plc receives prestigious Narrow Gauge Award During the 2018 Warley National Model Railway Exhibition, Bachmann Europe Plc were delighted to be presented with The OO9 Society’s P. D. Hancock Award for the Bachmann Narrow Gauge OO9 scale model of the Baldwin 10-12-D Steam Locomotive. Following the launch of the Bachmann Narrow Gauge range in late-2017, Bachmann Europe became the first recipients of the award which recognises ‘outstanding achievement in small scale narrow gauge railway modelling’. The Bachmann Narrow Gauge range marks Bachmann Europe’s entry into the Britishoutline OO9 scale Narrow Gauge market, with models of the Baldwin Class 10-12-D Steam Locomotive, Covered Goods Wagon and Open Bogie Wagon the first to be released in this evolving range. Further variants of these models are scheduled for release whilst the range will be further expanded with the addition of all-new models, such as the Quarry Hunslet Steam Locomotive and the Ashover Bogie Coach, which are currently in development. The award was presented by Dr Charles Insley, Secretary of The OO9 Society, and Geoff Bowyer, Treasurer, to Stephen Tooley, Bachmann Europe’s Research & Development Department Manager. Stephen was joined by three other members of the R&D Department, Steve Smith, David Parsons and Tom Whalley, who accepted the award on behalf of the company. Stephen said “Bachmann have a long history of making OO scale models so the introduction of a range of OO9 Narrow Gauge models was an obvious development. I’m really proud of the efforts of everyone at Bachmann Europe to bring these exciting models to market and we couldn’t be happier with the reception the new range has received from our customers and consumers.” Philip D. Hancock was a pioneer of Narrow Gauge modelling whose achievements would be recognised by The OO9 Society when he was made an Honorary Life Member. His Craig and Mertonford Railway, set in the fictitious county of Craigshire, was depicted in magazine articles and literature which brought his innovative and artistic modelling to life, inspiring many generations of modellers. Philip sadly passed away in 2011 however his models remain an inspiration to many and his legacy lives on in this award.
  9. I'd say it was a case of repairing any damage caused in separating the boards and electrical work to make it more durable than the inevitable taping of wiring when working against the clock.

  12. The two products will be the same mechanically so 50705 is the logical one to go for but it was shedded at Rawnsley on the CMR before it acquired the lion and wheel BR crest so it will still need some cosmetic attention to be 'right'. Like Paul I'm sniffing around the same territory and await the E1 for use on a similar project.
  13. On the basis of the location you've given of West Yorkshire you are comparatively lucky in that you have probably the greatest density of good clubs in the country - http://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/county/clubs/West%20Yorkshire - it may be worth going to see a few to see which you feel most comfortable with which is likely to meet your needs. Many of those clubs have members on here too. Ring a couple at least and go to see them on a club night.
  14. It wasn't the Coventry Home Guard's Air Force was it? https://goo.gl/maps/QRyueWHod5s If so, it's a Jag.
  15. Indeed. I am getting rather fed up of this constant procession of alter egos; it needs to stop once and for all 'Milo'! You've already wasted a lot of my time before; you have one chance only to sort this out. PM me a list of the accounts you want closed and the one which you wish to use.
  16. Oh Pete, those chimneys are magnificent!
  17. Phil says he'll don his Gal Gadot outfit if there's more than 200 people in the advance ticket queue on the Saturday morning.

  19. Nah, you'd just get some people moaning the tea was cold by it arrived and the digestives had the wrong number of dimples.
  20. Phil and I had a lot of fun talking to the New Junction Youtube team on Friday afternoon ahead of the show. https://youtu.be/9G-EXkQd1E8?t=511 Nicely done videos guys!
  21. Where is the evidence for this assertion? If you buy a DCC ready locomotive manufacturers recommend that you test the model on a DC supply before taking apart to fit a DCC decoder and they will often state that they are not liable for consequential damage to items fitted to a product. Please don't give readers a false 'I read it on the internet' get-out claim.
  22. It's evident that, of late, there are more families and youngsters coming to the shows influenced by Ch5's TV series so here's something a little extra for RMweb readers who would like to bring along the children/grandchildren as there will be plenty of Christmas related activities around. Print the voucher off, fill it in and bring it with you!

  24. I too noticed an outbreak of a new threat to good order at a show and that's bringing along your holiday suitcase to fill with stuff and tow around behind you with all the awareness of Mr. Blunders. I did chuckle though seeing one dragged through the usual urine-sprinkled floor of the gents' toilets; I don't suppose he cleaned his wheels when he got home.
