      Car screen wash works better than washing up liquid. It always takes ages to dry. I wet the ballast itch a water sprayer first.

  5. so, to balast before spraying track muck or after?

      I always spray the rail sides, then spray sleeper crud from above, ballast, let it dry then apply a grimy wash to everything (with more for spots where locos stand) then clean rail tops.

      so I can spray to get a coat onto the rail side and sleepers, then balast and give a light coat to tone the balast down and get more muck onto the rail sides?

      To add a touch more "depth" to the windows - I added window frames (platicard pieces) to my Metcalfe factory on Bracty Bridge... Now that took forever!

      I can recommend etch a sketch but file conversion is difficult even if you get one with a USB port.

  25. only two months after moving and legs are built and layout erected, now to finish the track bed :)
