  1. If an L&Y pug was released I'd be in the shop the next day, No, I'd pre-order it. I once heard rumours that Dapol wanted to do one but were persuaded that the terrier would be better as a 3 axle would be less likely to stick on set track points. I'd love a Fowler 2-6-4T and Ivatt tanks (although Dapol have done those) and a streamlined Duchess Farish have the Black 5 sorted - anyone do a jubilee? These are all locos I would run on any of the layouts I'm planning, there are others, such as the LMS garatt that I'd love to see, but don't know if i'd buy it so I'm not suggesting it.
  2. Cheers, might have a go at building it on Trainz
  3. upping the ISO can add 'noise' to the photo making it grainy which could compromise a detail shot. It could be worth looking into lighting, even holding a white sheet of A4 in the right place can really brighten up a shot! Its possible to 'focus-drag' this is the practice of pointing your camera at the subject you wish to have in focus, holding the shutter slightly to maintain focus and then re-positioning the shot as you wish it to be.
  4. bizarrely our sink, bath and shower went down a plastic pipe (not 40mm) running adjacent to the cast soil pipe into a separate drain next to the soil pipe that was linked underground. We've recently had the front garden paved where this was uncovered (along with the collapsed pipe for the soil pipe) our house is one of few in the run to have a soil (or stink pipe) at the front, other houses have them at the rear where the smaller bedroom was presumably given up to be the bathroom, however I know our house layout differs from next door...
  5. Our house was built around 1905-1915, is red brick near one of the east lancs stations and the waste pipes on it are cast iron, the soil pipe is cast but lead lined as I found out when trying to replace the toilet. The drainpipe from the guttering has a spout at the bottom above a drain, it doesn't go direct underground, the spout brings it away from the wall slightly but, unlike modern plastic, it doesn't kick it away from the wall. Can supply pics if you wish? Any pics around the east lancs railway I may be able to provide.
  6. Skimming to the end as I'm nearly out of lunch break, modern image to me is the 70's 80's as the full realisation of the modernisation plan had been achieved (open to discussion I know) as a modern diesel and electric British Rail My categorisation is as follows: Pioneer Pre grouping, Pre war (ww2) Post war Br Transition Tops Regional railways / sectorisation Privatisation Given that I'm not quite 30 my timing for when things happened could be out.
  7. Shame there's no narrow gauge for me to run Bill and Ben up!
  8. Now that you've liked it Jamie I expect to see it on Lancaster Green Ayre!
  9. run a model of Train from The Magic Roundabout alongside other scale and correct models.
  10. I'm downloading it (it's just under £20 on the mac app store) and will hopefully report back.
  11. I occasionally have a think about having a play with Trainz but never got round to it. they do say imitation is the highest form of flattery
  12. I've altered the plan slightly, rationalising the shed to turntable, coaling / water road and a twin line shed (probably Bachmann diesel unit back-dated) I've added a passing loop to the nearest line (can't decide if that's up or down, guess it depends which coast it's on!) opposite the shed, platform 3 (may not actually be a platform face given the bays) will double as passing loop and ability to drop a freight for shunting into the goods shed. The goods shed has two lines in the shed and two goods sidings The aforementioned bays are partly coach storage for excursions with only one or two actual platform faces. The fiddle yard arrangement is intended to be able to hold a couple of trains without blocking the continuous run, the centre one of which allows for running round of a local train destined for the bay, the siding being for a DMU. This bi-directional loop could also be a cassette, allowing for changing of stock.
  13. The railway have submitted plans of how they wish to alter their trackwork to better serve Milliedale-on-sea, reducing the sprawl of the goods receiving lines and rationalising the loco sheds as most freight is now handled at a larger facility outside of the town and locomotives have only been fueled and turned with basic servicing for some time. Locos will still be able to take on coal and water if needed but only as a top-up or for locos serving Milliedale-on-sea itself.
  14. Just give me a shout if you want pics of that hotel I posted Saves me working out how to build it
  15. Go sit in your corner of wrongness and think about how wrong you are!
  16. Had been pondering what a Deltic HST would have looked like, however the Pullman earlier kind of answers it
  17. Not sure if this has been covered, but how about a railway hotel to complement the large station? something like this: I'm planning on using it as a station hotel on my long term layout (need to build the room it's going in first) If John makes it as a it first I'll use it! It's only round the corner from work if photos are wanted
  18. This is the one I had. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1670058a Possibly a couple on e-bay or similar
  19. I've been and looked for treebeard, however it appears that I cleared that cupboard out in a previous visit to my parents as none of my wargaming stuff is there. It was a games workshop one, white metal with Merry and Pippin sat in his branches - don't know if they're still available. Sorry

  21. 4th wedding anniversary - think she's catching on, got a J94 :)

  22. Haven't had chance to look for the Ent, will try and do so next time I'm at my parent's
  23. I had a part built white metal Ent from a brief foray into war-games but never finished it. If I find it you can have it if you like?
  24. Just in case anyone was wondering where I'd gone to The railway room is perhaps not going to be the railway room anymore, it's currently full of boxes, furniture and motorbike parts (really need to get them on e-bay!) We have a mid-terrace with kitchen built on the back of the dining room (fairly typical) at some point a conservatory had been built by previous owners between kitchen and next-doors kitchen wall, accessed through the dining room. This room provides access to the back garden (instead of through kitchen and the old out buildings) and now that we're on the verge of having a family (Due in October) we're thinking it may be better used as a second small lounge. All is not lost however as slow progress is made on Milliedale Brew Lane in the coffee table (brew, as-in having a brew, no?) which will need some perspex sides to protect it from small hands. We're also considering a loft conversion which will be my study / railway room, possibly giving more space, but getting the dining room and nursery ready take priority. Farewell and see you soon
