  1. Scroll down the page Modelling Questions may fit the bill
  2. You will probably recve more replies if you post your query in the correct forum section!!
  3. Brilliant Film I even think there was a GWR Night Owl in it, and did I see a quick shot of a KING with streamlining? ( front view of smokebox only) Really worth watching! SKY 343 ( other viewing platforms are available Freeview etc) I am waiting for ' Cool It Carol' to return it has shots of Thumpers in it amongst other things!!!!!
  4. Not really that bothered myself there is more than one layout involved some belong to my friends, and we tend to invoke Rule 1 quite a lot! But seriously we see no point in further time wasting with Dapol semaphore signals, we were totting up recently how many we had actually purchased since their launch and got the figure to around 30, that's over £700!! Luckily the returned ones all got full refunds + return shipping costs.
  5. Thats good news re the speaker, would be interesting to know where the decoder location is! I have the 2 weathered ones on preorder, thinking of trying to preorder Peggy as well, 'cos it looks very nice!
  6. I am wondering how easy Digitizing access will be on these locos, for fitting the Next 18 decoder and possibly speaker? Looks like there are quite a few pipes etc which may make simple access difficult, hopefully I will be wrong!
  7. Noticing this topic is still live, just reporting I have recently returned 3 SR home signals ( and received refunds) as faulty! 2 were purchased one worked fine, the other had motor drive problems so it was replaced by the retailer, its replacement worked for around 6 'UP/Down cycles then failed, the next day the original one from the order also failed! I would point out that these were supplied as per the revised instructions with DC voltage 12V. Also worth mentioning that I still have just 3 signals purchased when they were first launched still working OK ( 12V DC feed) I have returned around 20 now as faulty We have decided that we will no longer bother to purchase Dapol Signals, and have purchased Train Tech Digital Colour light signals to replace the failed Dapol ones ( they work very well and are easy to install so long as they are hard wired and the system of direct track contact is not used!)
  8. My Shed is waiting too Mind you lookin' at those photos theres a heck of a lot to do yet! My problem is that once I get to the track laying completion stage (which this is now at) I tend to get lazy and nothing happens progress wise for weeks I just randomly put a train or 2 on the layout and watch them run. For info the trackplan represents nothing in particular, it is simply an oval looped over itself ( looped folded '8') with 2 passing loops 3 longish sidings and 2 shorter ones, the bridge in the pic is a Balsa mock up to test size but knowing my inactivity will probably remain in situ!
  9. Even lower price on the Bachmann Next 18 decoder from a retailer on the Isle of Man £17.15
  10. My usual accolade for Track Shak, order placed lunchtime Thursday, delivered beforre 9-00AM Friday....Excellent Service I only needed a Next 18 decoder, but a few other scenic items got added!! The whole order including the decoder were less expensive than other retailers
  11. I have dealt with Kernow for many years, placing orders anytime up to around mid afternoon, my orders usually being shipped by RMail and just paying the standard £4 or in the case of orders over £150 getting free delivery. I have never known any order not t be delivered next day usually by 9-00 AM Also worth adding every order gains loyalty points which can quickly add up to a useful extra discount
  12. Re using Nail varnish to insulate, Another very useful product is Germolene NEW SKIN, works a treat and last a little longet in situ than Nail varnish. For info New Skin was part of my multiproduct portfolio I was responsible for when I did a 'proper' job! I used to use it on my Garden Line to insulate the V of Peco G scale points to prevent digital short circuiting .
  13. Hi Dave Yes I have had info from paypal that the refunds have been actioned, they have not actually been applied to my paypal account yet noted as pending
  14. My views exactly, you must have first bought from them around the same time as me ( my first purchase Hornby Dublo C0-B0 & 6 Gunpowder vans!!)
  15. Hattons have still not taken any action regarding my return of 2 faulty Dapol signals which they recvd last week, I have been fobbed off with excuses saying they were busy etc. Usually in the past they have given excellent service, but now it seems they do not care too much, over many years I have placed many orders with them, when I check my order record I surprise myself at the number I have placed , and I am disappointed at the sudden change of attitude. which seems too have occurred.
  16. It is a strange thing with these, I had 3 failures 2 from 1 retailer, who had 12 delivered and 8 or 9 returns, my 3rd was from another retailer, personally I have had no financial loss due to these 3 failures, as I have posted previously the failures all occurred at different lengths of running times ( Actual use on continuous run layout) the first occurred at around 5 hours running time,, the second one at around 20 hours running time and third just 15 minutes, all failures occurred when the locos were traversing an approx. 13.5" radius curve , and all on the left hand side. A friend of mine had one which lasted a week in use running every evening for 1 to 2 hours, whilst a friend of his bought a MW which covered 6" then the motion fell off again both left side failures ( see earlier posts re adhesive and lubrication interaction) I am aware that the retailer who sold me my 3rd one also sold one to another RMWeb member around the same time, his also failed! Re Dibber 25's comment re motion I agree that the loco MUST have a reasonable representation of the valve gear to command the asking price which no doubt will be even higher than £200 when the revised production eventually arrives which although stated as Q1 18, in some views is optimistic.
  17. When I was very young, my Dad worked as a Salesman for a Paint company and occasionally I would go with him, around his calls, I remember him going to Runcorn, and parking up to watch the Transporter Bridge in action, I got the impression it moved very slowly.
  18. That is near Earlstown I believe>? My Uncle was the office manager for the Sankey Sugar Company, probably not many will remember Sankey sugar but it had a brand share almost equal to Tate & Lyle, Whoops off topic!
  19. There are ways round but I think the fuel cost may be more than the Toll
  20. We are drifting off topic , there was a TV prog about tunnels some months ago, the Queensway Tunnel was apparently constructed with space under the road way section for a Tramway which was never built, the space eventually being used for cables pipelines etc. Re the Widnes Toll system, what about those motorists who dont have computers and are not on line, there must be quite a few who fall into that cetegory
  21. Thanks for the info, I see that many problems will arrise with the toll system, I can imagine imagine many will just not see the signs despite there probably being many of them. I had heard that Mersey Tunnels tolls were also going to rise to the same £2 rate to prevent motorists trying to save a copper or 2 by going 'the other way'
  22. I have just contacted Hattons re 2 returned faulty items they received last week,( Dapol signals !) I took the precaution of using signed for delivery. They advised me they are a little behind and have not even opened my parcel yet, so when I replied to that remark saying I was unhappy with their service I was advised that they are nearly back to normal, draw your own conclusions from that remark, but in the meantime anything I require will be from other retailers, I am finding that the smaller retailers even the one man ones can do just as well these days
  23. Paypal will more than likely protect you, worth checking though
  24. Thanks for the offer Dave unfortunately as I mentioned earlier my orders are sometimes for a couple of my modelling colleagues, who prefer me to order for them (once they pay me of course!!) then they can collect goods from my address, when they are in the area, this assists tem as their addresses are unoccupied during the day, and in one case it helps to be able to sneak items in without being asked 'what more trains' from SWMBO. And in this case Friday was a good day to call here
  25. Yes have seen that ...and also queried with Hattons before sending my post being told that next day dely was suspended and they had NO idea when it would be reinstated and actually I got the impression thy were not really concerned,, as I mentioned I use ND dely as it does help to know when to expect a delivery, so that no one is left hanging around the house when they have better things to do. So as some of the items we were ordering were required to enable a project to be progressed over the coming weekend, the order was placed elsewhere,, I have noticed since that some of the Peco track items required are actually currently out of stock at Hattons anyway
