  1. Isn’t the best/easiest way of doing this to manually notch the engines to zero and then bring the loco to a controlled stop using the speed control, so it appears to “coast” but is under control as to where it stops?
  2. Just to clarify, he himself admitted it wasn’t a criticism as such as it was based solely on his personal preference for Zimo, and we know that there is no consensus that Zimo is better than Loksound or vice versa. I certainly wouldn’t call it a “real criticism” as he admitted it would be nitpicking.
  3. We often don’t know how we come across to others, and in this case this seems to be true as yours was the prime example I had in mind. Even just the length of the post immediately flags up the “hmmm, this guy likes the sound of his own voice alarm” ;-) Seriously though, there is a slight pomposity to the tone. As middle aged educated men we are all at risk of taking ourselves far too seriously!
  4. I think you are talking about this box here rather than modern safety gubbins?
  5. Im talking about comments posted on this thread, unfortunately, eg telling Accurascale they’ve been too ambitious. Probably the most unpleasant and passive aggressive “compliment” someone could come out with.
  6. I know it’s probably not intentional but the tone of some of these user “reviews” (naming no names) seems a little sharp and/or condescending. It’s not even my product and yet even I feel like I’m being told off by a school teacher! There are real and helpful people, not a faceless entity like Hornby. Perhaps ease off the judgement and stick to the facts?
  7. That’s not what he does unfortunately. He has on a number of occasions reviewed a clearly faulty loco previously and then gone on to use the faulty features of the loco as part of his review of the model itself. For example he slated the Bachmann 9F as a model due to its rough running, which was a fault, not a design flaw!
  8. Just an update I was given by someone at Rails…… The Rails/DPS Deltics have been delayed slightly in between A (Accurascale) and B (Rails). I presume the same applies to the ones going to Locomotion, but can’t confirm. They are all ready to send out as soon as they arrive but that could be Friday, though possibly tomorrow. So, I’d suggest very earliest deliveries would be Monday next week, or if the gods are smiling, possibly Saturday at a push…..
  9. What better way to celebrate the arrival of our Deltics than the return of one of the real ones! A real case of a “chuck out” of a loco on test today, which luckily I was able to get to with 40 mins notice as I live near the line. 55009 arrives at Quorn on the 12.50 ex Loughborough today. Posting this from onboard the train!
  10. I know I’m being thick here, but can someone dumb this down for me?! Primary load? And why three different sets of CV figures? While we are at it, manual notching logic?
  11. Wouldn’t that just have been a quick fix, just a case of identifying what is vibrating/rattling? I have exactly the same sound issue (by the sound of it) but am just waiting till the weekend to take the body off and fully expect to have sorted it within a matter of minutes.
  12. Proof, if proof were needed, that they really are louder at night…….. ;-)
  13. This shows of the sound better than any other video I’ve seen!
  14. Indeed. That post was a bit like me saying I was really looking forward to the new album by [insert name here] but now it’s been ruined because ive read a bad review of it! Some of the least critically popular albums turn out to be stone cold classics in later life! All subjective as you say…..
  15. Ah, double doh! Thanks for letting this dunce know! I’ll shut up now.
  16. Sorry, I meant WORKSPLATES. Doh! So, anyone know a source?
  17. Does anyone know of any producers of appropriate 4mm etched or printed nameplates for the Deltics?
  18. And just like the real thing, it really comes alive at night……. Cab is just stunning.
  19. Well spotted, love the lighting on the garden railway on a clear summers evening. I went out the front of the house to check and, yep, you could hear it on the street!
  20. The memory most of us have of them, at the head of a rake of air cons…….
  21. Yep, got it Tuesday. When it asked for my DOB and bank account details it was fairly obvious it was a scam! It was asking me to pay a £2.50 additional charge.
  22. Great, when I stop shaking with excitement I’ll try and refit it with a steady hand! I know I’m probably teaching my grandmother (or rather RMweb members) to suck eggs here but knowing how many detailing parts are fitted I took the loco out of it’s “sock” over a tray so I could hear and see any loose bits fall out. Loose bits are always going to happen and you don’t want to be scrabbling around looking for something as small as the part I found, believe me!!! Pays to be prepared, even if loose bits aren’t common, which I’m sure they won’t be.
