  1. Yep, as I said much earlier above (to someone who was a tad less passive aggressive!), good point! It pays to read a thread before responding ;-)
  2. Ok, so as an active member of the CFPS I’ve know about this for a few months, and a few modelling members of the society have been giving feedback on the early designs. But that’s not why I’m posting. The below is my view only…. The CFPS, and it’s committee, is STUFFED with current and ex Railway men, many with close links or careers tied to Crewe where the GTR driver was from. Not one of them who knew about this has objected to D326 being chosen. They were more bothered about the original plaque at Crewe having an error on it, quite rightly. As often with things like this, you will have a small number of people who genuinely still feel very strongly about it, either due to family connection, job, or some other emotive reason. You’ll then have everyone else pile on because they’ve learnt that it’s what you do if you like railways. The idea that you cannot model such an important part of English railway history is just nonsense, in my view.
  3. Good point, well made! Will Bachmann “do a 37”?!
  4. What do you mean “why”? It’s one of the top 3 most popular diesels ever, and has been low hanging fruit for a redo for ages. Im just surprised Accurascale et al let this one slip through their fingers…….
  5. Hornby Mag subscribers don’t even get access, just those who subscribe to that Key Model World nonsense.
  6. Couple of questions if I may. I picked up one of these to replace my 12 year old and squeaky 08! 1) it is fitted with high level air pipes. I can’t find any info about the original loco and where/when it had these fitted, and if it was for specific work. Anyone got any info? 2) the detail bag provides something I’ve not seen before as a separate piece, what I presume is a recreation of the metal pipework that feeds in to the vacuum hose seen below in white). It’s blooming TINY and looks like it would be a swine to fit, and I can see how it would fit in the first place. The Hornby instructions don’t even show it! Anyone got a picture of it fitted?
  7. My unumbered Hattons 45/1 is half way to becoming 45135, with its Fox nameplates trial fitted. Can a Peak expert confirm that it is in the correct position in terms of height?
  8. I have to say the nose hand rails look more realistic than the Accurascale Deltic ones, which seem a little over scale in thickness and protrusion. They are fine and well fitted.
  9. packaging is interesting in that the loco sits on a screwed in mount, a bit like a model car, which you have to unscrew with a Philips screwdriver. Any idea what this magnetic stick is for, instructions seem not to reference it!
  10. 1) The 40145 tour in November sold out in hours. 2) The proportion of people who model current day is a small proportion of modellers. 3) BR blue is consistently the range highest in demand. 4) Are you genuinely claiming that The Beatles were only the biggest band in the world whilst they were around and no longer are because the original fans are old/dead? 5) the age group you speak of are the demographic who are most represented amongst modellers. 6) lose your own prejudices and look at things objectively.
  11. My Hattons one has just been packed…….
  12. I’m not talking about personal preference, I really don’t get the fuss about Westerns, but I’d be mad to pretend that they weren’t one of the most popular diesels in UK history! The 52/55/40 top 3 is objective based on popularity.
  13. Sorry, long day, apologies for getting over excited ;-) Yeah, Victoria was my “patch” in the early 80s.
  14. VXC last 47s? Last 37s on NWC? Compare those to my footage of the last 40 hauled Skegg returning at Man Picc. Only the “kidz” who like “tonez” like duffs! I can’t believe I’m even having to argue that 40s are in the top 3 most popular diesels ever…..
  15. Payment just taken by Hattons for an order for an unumbered blue 45.
  16. 47s more popular than 40s???!!!! Do you even like trains or know anything about them? That is demonstrably factual nonsense! Why do you think they were called duffs?! The 3 most popular diesels are 52s, 55s, and 40s. I don’t care about “polls”, you just have to look at the crowds surrounding their final days. 47s and 37s have never seen anything like that.
  17. They regularly worked the Leeds-Carlisle, and before that the Nottingham-Glasgow. Also regularly turned up on the Newcastle-Carlisle loco hauled services. Not unusual at all.
  18. I keep saying this, it’s the class that is literally shouting out for a new model, it would sell like hot cakes, but no, we need more 37s, 47s………. 🙄
  19. When did they cancel that? I’ve ordered one too.
  20. How do you mean? Was Ben overruled? Surely if he wants to get it right it is fairly easy to do so, this forum gave very clear feedback on the errors.
  21. As an aside, anyone seen the guy on eBay who has sold 13 Deltics so far and has 10 still for sale. All “new”. Of course they are all for sale with a 99p starting price……..NOT! All priced as buy it now with between £100 and £150 mark up. Suspect it’ll be far worse with the 37s now people have realised they can scalp so easily…….
