Chassis & roof required as the NGS kit is only the sides & ends, same goes for the VDA kit.

So in other words, you need the Farish VAA/VBA van as a doner if you are going down that route. Chuck the van, keep the chassis & roof.

I believe the tool for the roof became damaged or something like, hence there being no roof in the kit.

    Hi

As far as I am aware the roof was supplied direct from Farish in the beginning.

I assume you've used a Farish OAA/VAA chassis for the VCA?

I've been wondering if the Chivers/Five79 OCA/OTA would be a useful chassis donor for the exTPM VCA, VDA and coaltainer kits. It's easier to get hold of than a Farish OAA/VAA and probably costs less.

    Hi

I use the 2mm SA chassis for mine but that’s only of use if you are a member. Part number is 2-380 and this a link to the instructions

Pretty sure I can turn them on independently on my Astra. IIRC my previous car, you could only turn the rears on if the fronts were on, something I always found pointless because I never found the fronts much use and the legal requirement is only for a rear one.

    Hi

You certainly can on mine (Astra) but in the six years I’ve had the car I’ve only used them once.

Here's a question... Soldering Irons what type do you use and at what Wattage?

I've got a couple of small Antex ones a 12w and a 15w, but I think they are a bit too small, I was doing something which should have been quite simple today (assembling an assoc quartering jig), but neither seemed to be giving enough heat.

    Hi

I use an Antex XS 25w iron for my 2mm work which seems to have plenty of power (I’ve also used it for building 4mm items)

Just had a go at booking the booster, everywhere seems to give a choice of one date and time, when I'm at work. I'll try again tomorrow (and double check what the work policy is, bit tight if they expect people to take leave for this IMO).

    Hi

My first two were local so just nipped out of work and had them done.

For the booster I had to travel 30 miles so chose to take the afternoon off and then do a bit of shopping.

iPad here Andy. Only getting the video on right

    Hi

Depends if you get Safari to request the desktop or mobile version of the site.

Mobile version intrusive banner at the top which you can't close plus advert at the bottom

    Desktop version just the video.

Above is on an iPad Mini running IOS15.1

No known history of diabetes in either side of his family going back several generations, none in living relatives  - but could be buried in the genes of course.

Reading about this it looks like - as you say - Covid (and presumably the vaccine) can trigger the immune system to misbehave.

    Hi

No known history in either side of my family also going back several generations so I’ve always wondered where mine came from. One thing as a teenager I had Thyrotoxicosis (over active thyroid) and I’ve often wondered if that’s what set it off. Several of my friends have had Thyroid issues in later life and at least one of them also developed diabetes.

The difference though Ian is you don't get forcibly injected to drive on the left.

My son's half brother had his second jab (he's 18) a couple of weeks ago, the other day he was rushed to hospital and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, the only symptoms he'd seen had started since the second jab (thirst, tired feeling), so now he has to inject etc. for life - connected to the vaccine ? - who knows, no-one is interested in finding out, they merely say "It doesn't matter how he developed it, he has it and it needs to be managed", it seems very coincidental but maybe it is, or maybe it isn't.

    Hi

A friend of my sons caught Covid earlier this year. She has since been diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic. Now as far as I am aware type 1 is genetic so I would presume that the risk was already there and Covid has triggered the immune system to cause this to appear sooner rather than later.

I was diagnosed at age 21 with type 1.

The biggest problem is the colour of the lighting it’s viewed under, very few models are viewed in open daylight and almost no full size trains are viewed under room lighting.

My whole career was often plagued by comments like “it looks the wrong colour” when showing clients pictures, then when showing them at a window the same image they suddenly say “oh that’s more like it”…..despite asking beforehand where it will be displayed/viewed the most they still pick holes!   Just like being in here really :D

    Hi

Plus the underlying substrate is different. At work we have different tolerances for brown and white as the colour looks completely different depending on which it’s printed on.

  10. Hi

A month ago I posted that my Antibody test had come back negative. Well this month its come back positive (as it has been since my second vaccination in May apart from last month). As far as I am aware I haven't been in contact with anyone who has Covid but can't be 100% sure plus all my swab tests have been negative.

My wife's tests so far have all been positive for Antibodies.

    Cheers

As for salt? Well, one would need to eat from KFC to know about salt...McDonalds stuff isn't 'liberally coated'  in salt at all.

    Hi

The fries certainly are library covered in salt around here. Maybe different McDonalds have different ideas about how much salt to add but all the fries I’ve had have way too much salt on.

    Hi Paul,

It's a smaller Coop mini-market, rather than a full blown supermarket, so their frozen food and chilled sections are quite limited anyway.

    Hi

Thanks and that’s the size of ours. It used to be a Spar then a Londis and is now a Coop. As mentioned the frozen food section is quite small but there has been very little in it since before the summer. Not noticed any issues in the large supermarkets other than that I mentioned earlier.

I popped into the Co-op across the road next, to get some milk and a couple of other items she'd forgotten yesterday.

No evidence of empty, or lightly loaded shelves.

    Hi

What was the frozen section like as our local coop has had very little since before the summer. Every thing else is ok.

I noticed yesterday that Morrisons in Lincoln had very empty shelves for raw meat not that we get ours from the supermarkets anyway. Apart from that the shelves were well stocked.

In the interest of trying to understand more fully, what was the time gap between your two doses of vaccine?  Was it the same for your wife?

I recall that at times pressure was applied to move away from the manufacturers’ recommendations, and it might be helpful to see any evidence whether it did affect - adversely or beneficially - the longevity of immunity conferred.

    Hi

Mine was ten weeks, my wife from memory was less (possibly eight) as her second vaccination was brought forward. I should also mention that I am a type one diabetic (well controlled) and I am not sure if that has any effect on the longevity of antibodies.

Except that the on off switches on the appliances don't turn them off, they just tell the electronics to turn the screen etc. off. The internal electronics need to keep running, and therefore drawing current so that when someone presses the on switch they can detect it and start powering everything up again.  It must be several decades since a TV was made with a switch that actually disconnected the supply.

    Hi

The switch on the TV is actually a latching one that when on is permanently in and when off is proud. Whether that means it has disconnected the supply I don’t know. It’s irrelevant in my case anyway as I switch it off at the wall socket which is easily accessible.

Awkward if your sockets are away down the back of the telly.

    Hi

Luckily my Tv has an on off switch on it so no issue for me.

Perhaps having too many items on standby. My son in Law has installed smart switches on his tv's which turns the power off when they are asleep and out working

    Hi

I have a much simpler solution I just switch them off at the socket in the wall, no need for smart switches.

The 3D tanker is rather devoid of underframe details so does anyone know if anyone does and where you can get wagon vee hangers and handbrake handles - preferably etched metal?

    Hi

In the past I’ve made vee hangers from wire and fabricated the brake levers from left over etches. For my next project I’m considering doing an etch as there are quite a few items I need that aren’t available.

It would be useful if some of the etches available in 4mm for things like this were shrunk down to N. I’m guessing there are very few people who would need them so not commercially viable.

Hi there - sorry, only just seen this - yes the products were excellent but that was 8 years ago - hopefully they are still trading in 2mm :good:

    Hi

I would agree  they were excellent products. The website does mention getting the n signals back into production but there hasn’t been an update since January of this year on whether they will or not.
