  1. Hello everyone Forgive me if I don't trawl through all the previous posts. I have just been speaking with some friends who have many of the same locos as me. Some of theirs have rot whereas none of mine do. Mine are always in my railway room in my house which is always heated when cold weather demands. Does the rot affect those which have been stored 'cold' such as in lofts, garages etc? Brian
  2. Hello gazzaday Could you confirm (as per website) that tickets can be purchased on the day up to 45 minutes prior to opening? Many thanks Brian
  3. Hello Nick Yes, it's MKMRS show I am speaking with (but others are available). Are you likely to be going? Brian
  4. Thanks Trevor I suggested my local club 'enhance' their list. I was told that that would be done but hasn't as yet (although, to be fair, the show is still about 10 weeks away). Brian
  5. Hello Rob There is 'a case in point here'... Some while ago, a thread was raised on the subject of why exhibition organisers don't give a brief description of their show layouts. Something along the lines of (hypothetical examples)... Sparra Bridge. 00, 16ft x 2ft. A 'might have been' GWR Welsh branch line terminus in 1954. Deadman's Gulch. H0, 45ft x 25ft. West Virginia steam-hauled coal trains of the 1940s. Brandon Junction. N, 25ft x 10ft. West Coast Main Line action in the present day. All the details have to be 'known from the outset' otherwise it wouldn't be possible to arrange a floor plan. Or, heaven forbid, you'd have 20 GWR branch terminus layouts!😀 Although I haven't ever organised a model railway show per se, I have arranged similar events and believe from experience that the examples given are perfectly reasonable requests. And it might well bring in more attendees. I can't see that anyone would be put off going. Brian
  6. Hello everyone And John works very hard as a member of The 00 Poll Team (and not just on GWR matters) as well as The Quirky Poll Team.🙂 Brian
  7. Indeed, top marks to Bachmann for sorting it all out in a customer-focused manner. Brian
  8. Hello Robert Bachmann Press Release attached might help? Brian 73050 Press Release.pdf
  9. Hello Roger Have a look at railscot.co.uk/img/27/363. Can't seem to link here for you. Brian
  10. Hello everyone It's interesting to read whether folk think that stock should be in sets or not and with or without details. Many of us here will be 'experienced modellers' who are aware of such matters but many model buyers simply aren't. To give an example... I was once in a respected model shop where a customer was asking the owner what coaches he might buy to run with his 14xx. Dutifully and with great care, the owner explained the merits of either an Autocoach or a B-set, patiently showing examples of each. Guess what the customer bought...half a B-set!🙂 Brian
  11. Hello everyone A shaky mobile phone video screen grab of a Turkish 777 arriving 27R Heathrow at 0945 14 March. My son was on board, hence the filming. Brian
  12. Hello again Here's a grainy 8mm screen grab of her shunting at Waltham Cross c.1961. Brian
  13. Hello everyone J15 chimney arrived this morning and was fitted by 'Stratford Works' immediately as the loco was needed out on the road!😀 Painting and (very, very) minor filling will done at next works visit. I have dropped a line to Colin Seymour of Alan Gibson to thank him for his help. And thanks again to contributors here. Brian
  14. Well said Paul & Fran! We in The 00 Poll Team regularly had 'kit comments'...so much so that, for 2022, I had to run the request as repeated below. Thankfully, the request was accepted and we heard nothing in that respect. Brian Extract from The 00 Wishlist Poll 2022 Introduction Please avoid comments such as: Why are you listing Loco X when there is a perfectly good kit available. We – as a RTR community – don’t invade kit threads with exhortations to ‘go RTR’, so please don’t invade us!
  15. Hello again everyone Colin Seymour returned my call very swiftly and the chimney was ordered within less than two hours of me posting my request here!🙂 Brian
  16. Thanks t-b-g and Curlew I have just emailed Alan Gibson and Colin Seymour has replied by return with a photo of a chimney that solves the problem. I am placing a phone order as soon as he comes back to my voice mail. Brian
  17. Very many thanks!🙂 I'll drop him a line to discuss. Brian
  18. Hello Tony and everyone I wonder if someone can help, please? I have a Hornby J15 No.65445 (R3232). The chimney has gone missing. Hornby don't supply body spares. I have checked eBay and Peter's Spares. Does anyone know of any of the small suppliers who make a correct chimney? I know I supplied a link to UK Model Shops recently, but a steer in the right direction would be appreciated. The loco is 'dear to my heart' as I filmed it shunting at Waltham Cross around 1960 when I was about 12 years old. Brian
  19. Hello Tony and everyone Sunday's episode of The Saint on TPTV channel showed a chase across railway lines apparently somewhere on the ECML. I think the episode was dated 1965, Screen grab attached. Was it Hitchin? Perhaps the Ballast Brake might be of interest? Brian
  20. Hello gr.king Website below may be useful. The owner - Adrian Hall - keeps the site very well up to date (as far as practical). You can click into a supplier and see when the data was last confirmed. The UK Model Shop Directory - Suppliers (ukmodelshops.co.uk) Brian
  21. Hello Rob Firstly, well done on the first 10 years! As you know, I am a BR modeller as opposed to GWR but it has been very rewarding to be part of a 'good thread' where people are helpful and polite to each other!🙂 The Mini-Polls were spread out over various topics, so I hope you will find the Overall Results useful. They serve as a reminder of just how much has come to market since we ran them. Brian GWR Mini-Polls - Overall Results Top-to-Bottom.pdf
  22. Hello everyone Congratulations to KR Models on this announcement. We wish them every success with the project. The Micas have been generally High Polling in The 00 Wishlist Poll and that was the same placing in 2022. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  23. Hello everyone Congratulations to Dapol on this announcement. We wish them every success with the project. These Autocoaches have always been High Polling in The 00 Wishlist Poll and entered The Top 50 for the first time in 2022 - coming in at equal position 26 overall. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
