  1. Hello again everyone Colin Seymour returned my call very swiftly and the chimney was ordered within less than two hours of me posting my request here!🙂 Brian
  2. Thanks t-b-g and Curlew I have just emailed Alan Gibson and Colin Seymour has replied by return with a photo of a chimney that solves the problem. I am placing a phone order as soon as he comes back to my voice mail. Brian
  3. Very many thanks!🙂 I'll drop him a line to discuss. Brian
  4. Hello Tony and everyone I wonder if someone can help, please? I have a Hornby J15 No.65445 (R3232). The chimney has gone missing. Hornby don't supply body spares. I have checked eBay and Peter's Spares. Does anyone know of any of the small suppliers who make a correct chimney? I know I supplied a link to UK Model Shops recently, but a steer in the right direction would be appreciated. The loco is 'dear to my heart' as I filmed it shunting at Waltham Cross around 1960 when I was about 12 years old. Brian
  5. Hello Tony and everyone Sunday's episode of The Saint on TPTV channel showed a chase across railway lines apparently somewhere on the ECML. I think the episode was dated 1965, Screen grab attached. Was it Hitchin? Perhaps the Ballast Brake might be of interest? Brian
  6. Hello gr.king Website below may be useful. The owner - Adrian Hall - keeps the site very well up to date (as far as practical). You can click into a supplier and see when the data was last confirmed. The UK Model Shop Directory - Suppliers (ukmodelshops.co.uk) Brian
  7. Hello Rob Firstly, well done on the first 10 years! As you know, I am a BR modeller as opposed to GWR but it has been very rewarding to be part of a 'good thread' where people are helpful and polite to each other!🙂 The Mini-Polls were spread out over various topics, so I hope you will find the Overall Results useful. They serve as a reminder of just how much has come to market since we ran them. Brian GWR Mini-Polls - Overall Results Top-to-Bottom.pdf
  8. Hello everyone Congratulations to KR Models on this announcement. We wish them every success with the project. The Micas have been generally High Polling in The 00 Wishlist Poll and that was the same placing in 2022. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  9. Hello everyone Congratulations to Dapol on this announcement. We wish them every success with the project. These Autocoaches have always been High Polling in The 00 Wishlist Poll and entered The Top 50 for the first time in 2022 - coming in at equal position 26 overall. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  10. Hello everyone Many congratulations to Accurascale on yet another exciting loco announcement! We wish Paul and the team every success. The class had been High Polling in The 00 Wishlist Poll but entered The Top 50 in overall position 20 in 2019 and then moved up to overall position ninth in 2022. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)

  12. Hello everyone Congratulations to Rapido on this announcement - we hope the project will be a great success. Although 'Underground' hasn't been in The 00 Wishlist Poll since 2018, the Met E Class had been in the The Top 50 in 2014, 2016 and 2018. It was only just outside in 2015. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  13. Hello Barry Ten Many thanks for the photos - brought back fond memories of my two trips there about 10 years ago. On my first trip, all I saw was a track maintenance vehicle! The second was rather more exciting like your shots. Brian
  14. Hello Gerhard Very many thanks! When it's done, I'll post the show on the original thread (if you wish) to show that 'it can be done'.🙂 Brian
  15. Hello Vecchio Looking forward to the show. I was involved in a thread recently that concerned how show layouts were advertised. Could you give consideration to listing layouts along the lines of the dummy samples as below? Many on the thread felt that this little bit more information might convince a 'floating visitor' to attend when otherwise they wouldn't. I will attend anyway as I like to support the club where I can. But this might be worth looking at. Dummy Listings for Example Only: Bloggs Road (00, 12ft x 6ft, fictitious WR country branch line station set in 1960). Hunstsville (HO, 25ft x 12ft, steam-hauled coal trains in the hills of West Virginia, USA, 1940s). Many thanks Brian
  16. Hello everyone We know that even if a loco or coach etc were to garner 10,000 votes or more each Poll, the item wouldn't be made unless a maker can visualise a return on investment. However, I thought some might like to see how the U Class has fared in The Top 50 since the 2013 Poll... 2013 - 15th 2014 -14th 2015 - 4th 2016 - 2nd 2018 - 4th 2019 - 5th 2022 - Top-voted The Poll didn't run in 2017, 2020 and 2021. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  17. Hello rogerzilla I have just had a look at eBay and can't see any 'mint/unused' for £40-£50. I guess you must have been lucky that day. Bachmann seem to have made as many models of the N Class as they have as many other classes. Agreed that the N is 'similar' to the U - but the same can be said of the S15/N15 or many pannier tanks etc. Brian
  18. Hello rogerzilla Where are you seeing 'mint/unused' for £40-£50 please? Brian
  19. Hello t-b-g My layout is 'generic' and can purport to be Exeter Central, Oxford, Newton Abbot or Hitchin depending on which stock I run. Although Newton Abbot requires a bit more of a stretch of the imagination, Exeter, Oxford and Hitchin are closer to the real things, having a main station with Up & Down Fast lines with platform faces on loops. One platform has a bay. The loco shed is adjacent and there are six sorting sidings and four ECS/NPCCS stock roads on the other side of the room. For Hitchin, I am 'in 1958-ish' so that I can use the W1, Prototype Deltic, Baby Deltics, D53xx, D55xx, D2xx and DMUs along with the usual steam locos of the time. There is a fair mix of Red & Cream in with Maroon stock as well as Crimson and/or Unlined Maroon for the non-gangwayed stock. I don't run any Pullmans due to my emphasis going to other train types and some future planned replacements. Although the layout isn't right - and certainly won't ever appear in mainstream mags - it feels as though it might have been Hitchin (or the others) and gives the pleasure that I set out to achieve with a long-term plan dating back 25 years or more. My Mk1 Short Underframe Non-gangwayeds will soon be replaced by the forthcoming Accurascale models. That leaves me wanting a RTR Quad Art 8-set, a Gresley Steel Panel 5-set, some End Door Stock and a Gresley Triplet Articulated Set. (For many reasons, I can't undertake kit-building and won't buy kit-built models.) Brian
  20. Hello 45568 Bear in mind that the GN Quads were designed to run as an 8-set, albeit that both halves were slightly different and there were many variants overall. I guess many modellers might buy 'a non-prototypical half set'. (I have witnessed someone in a shop buy half a GWR B-set even though the shop owner explained that the customer's 14xx was ok for an auto-coach or a 2-coach B-set!) In terms of equivalent short underframe Mk1 non-gangwayed stock, a full 8-set Quad Art is about six, a 5-set Quint Art is about four and a peak hours 'jazz' service 10-set would be just slightly longer than a Midland Pullman. The GN & GE Quads already have plenty of suitable motive power available. The GE Quints already have an M7; the addition of J67/68/69 would add to the stock's appeal for earlier years. Agreeing with Andy (earlier above), the 5-sets were split up as time went by and individual twins have been seen on the Somerset & Dorset, the North Cornwall Line and at Bournemouth Central. Brian
  21. Hello Gilbert The GE Quads were extremely camera-shy whereas the 5-sets were less so, I feel. I'd guess a triplet, quad or quint would be more expensive than three, four or five 'ordinary' coaches. There has always been a point at which something becomes 'unreasonably expensive'. But that 'point' varies amongst us all. Brian
  22. Hello Gilbert Nice to see the 5-set! To my mind, the 5-set is a must-have train for any GN steam era layout (and other areas) given a relatively short length but often with pacific power at the head. However, the sets always fare badly in The 00 Wishlist Poll and were the bottom of the list in the LNER Coaches category in 2022. Conversely, the GE Quint Arts, GN and GE Quad Arts, Non-gangwayed Twin Arts and Triplet Restaurant Set are all High Polling. Thoughts anyone? Brian
  23. Thanks Captain I thought they had feedback (says Brian not really understanding electrics but only going on past experience🙂). Brian
