  1. Hello Rich Agreed. I think Glen was a tad disappointed with the outcome. In Ramsay's Catalogue, Pat Hamond notes "... a more accurate GWR chassis" - not an 'accurate' one per se! A wide open goal still remains! Brian
  2. Hello Jason Hornby re-tooled the chassis for 2007 and our late - and much missed - Poll Team colleague and 'milk aficionado', Glen Woods, was involved with that. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  3. Hello Pint of Adnams We couldn't see a good case for the 4-wheelers but others may have views? Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  4. Hello again everyone I forgot to re-iterate that three 'milk items' were in The Top 50. Second Place Overall was the 3000 gallon Ladder & Filler in Centre type (GWR, SR, LMS, LNER, BR - 29 Diagrams). In Overall Equal 30th Place were: 3000 gallon, Ladder off-centre, small platform type (GWR, SR, LMS, LNER) Milk Tank Truck, 20ft 6in, with 4-wheel Milk Road Tanker Trailer Load (GWR,SR, LMS. LNER) Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  5. Hello everyone As CM says, he's not expecting dozens of different diagrams to be produced and neither is The 00 Poll Team, but - as noted and in an earlier post - we believe there is significant commercial potential from a comparatively small range that would satisfy many. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  6. Hello Mike (W) and Mike (S) We noted in our 'submitted paper' that we hadn't undertaken detailed research, but it seemed to us that our suggested vehicles would facilitate 'variants' and 'spin-offs'. Like many subjects, (give or take) 80% of the potential comes from 20% of the possible - and, in our paper, it is probably slightly less than that (unless, for hypothetical example, someone rather uncommercially makes one with a handful of examples in one livery!). Do we think two or three 'really good' Milk Tanker types are possible in a good range? Yes, we do.🙂 Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  7. Hello Flying Pig The 00 Poll Team 'submitted a detailed paper' pretty much as per your suggestion above to a maker at the beginning of the year. We said it was for that maker only so we won't repeat it here - we weren't expecting an RMweb thread at the time, but it's great that Combe Martin has raised it.🙂 I will, however, repeat below the items we listed in The 00 Wishlist Poll 2022 to see if that helps the discussion. Number of votes in left column. The top item below was Second Place Overall. Note that top two were exactly what Combe Martin suggested in his first post - a good omen?? Top 50 235 Milk Tank Wagon 6-wh 3000-gall. Ladder & filler in centre GWR/SR/LMS/LNER/BR (29+ diagrams) 149 Milk Tank Wagon 6-wh 3000-gall. Ladder off-centre, small platform GWR/SR/LNER/BR 149 Milk Tank Truck 6-wh 20ft 6in. 4-wh Milk Road Tanker Trailer load GWR/SR/LMS/LNER High Polling 116 Milk Tank Truck 6-wh 24ft 6in. 6-wh Milk Road Tanker Trailer load, GWR/LMS/LNER (4 diagrams) 115 Milk Tank Wagon 6-wh 3000-gall. Ladder & filler one end, GWR (Diag.O57) 108 Milk Tank Wagon 6-wh 2000-gall. Ladder & filler in centre, LMS/LNER (Diag.1992 & Diag.222) Middle Polling 91 Milk Tank Wagon 6-wh 3000-gall. Ladders each end, twin tank/compartment, GWR (3 diagrams) 86 Milk Tank Wagon 6-wh 3000-gall. Ladder & filler one end, sloping tank, BR-built (3 diagrams) Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  8. Hello Combe Martin Right with you on that request!🙂 Within The 00 Wishlist Poll 2022, we listed six Milk Tank Wagons and two Milk Tank Trucks with Trailer. Three came in Top 50; three were High Polling; and two were high up the Middle Polling segment. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  9. Hello Steve One other that I have seen is FL60LHR - but that was on a 'common or garden' car and I suspect the owner wasn't aware of any aviation context.🙂 Brian
  10. Hello JS Bach Modern UK numberplates are configured 'Letter/Numbers/Letters'. I thought it was amusing that 777 might be Boeing 777 and DXB is airport code for Dubai. Might be pure coincidence but I wonder if the owner is a pilot or plane spotter!🙂 Brian
  11. Hello everyone Congratulations to Rails and Dapol on this announcement. We wish them every success with the project. The Class entered The 00 Wishlist Poll in 2019 and came in very High Polling and only just outside The Top 50. When we next ran in 2022, the Class climbed up and went into The Top 50. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  12. Hello everyone If you go to the 'Events' heading on UK Model Shops, you will find a box in the top right hand corner where you can sign up to get the Newsletter every Friday. This gives details of exhibitions for the forthcoming two weeks. It's free and you can 'unsubscribe' anytime. Brian (I have known the owner, Adrian Hall, for many years but have no other connection than 'satisfied customer')
  13. Hello everyone Many thanks to Rapido for making the SR 8-plank Opens - they look very good and run even better! They feel as though they are sturdy enough to withstand the occasional accidental drop or knock but still retain very good detail. I have four BR Grey examples in a mix of diagrams and running numbers. I look forward to the GWR Opens and Vans! Brian
  14. Many thanks to Rapido for making these vehicles - they look very good and run even better! They feel as though they are sturdy enough to withstand the occasional accidental drop or knock but still retain very good detail. I have four examples in a mix of diagrams and running numbers. Brian
  15. Hello Tony The B2 was listed as: LNER Gresley B2 4-6-0 (in range 61603-61671, but many are B17). So, yes, it was the Thompson version. The purpose of The Poll is: To provide railway modellers and collectors with an easy way of indicating to companies making or commissioning 00 ready-to-run models which models they would realistically buy if made at some time in the future. Our cut-off date was the end of 2005 - so, anything made before that went it, whether still in maker ranges or not. Items made from 2006 did not go in. Having a specific cut-off dates precludes us making selective judgments of quality as to what to list. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  16. Hello Tony and everyone In a post or two above, Tony commented: Speaking with my old teacher training chum yesterday, we mused over whether anyone what produce the A1/1 RTR. I thought not, but who knows? I don't claim that The 00 Wishlist Poll is in anyway a crystal ball of what will or will not be made, but it's interesting to note the bottom eight positions out of 42 LNER locos listed (with number of votes shown to the left): 61 - B2 4-6-0 58 - GNR A1 4-6-2 58 - LNER A1/1 4-6-2 58 - LNER A4 4-6-2 56 - GCR 04/8 2-8-0 52 - LNER A1 4-6-2 52 - LNER A2/1 4-6-2 (60507-60510) 43 - LNER A3 4-6-2 Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  17. Hello everyone My Diags.O33 and O59 arrived yesterday, and fine models they are too! Certainly a quality product! 👍 Did someone say they had trouble going round first radius? I tested mine on my reverse loops (in my hidden sidings) and all was fine. As noted by me in an earlier post, I like to keep the weight of rolling stock to a bare minimum. My first job with any new vehicle is to take the body off and - hopefully - remove the ballast weight. More easily said than done with some stock! I'm pleased to say that the bodies popped off very easily (but not too easily). The internal floor seems to have been dab glued to the ballast weight. I wedged a thin screwdriver under the floor and gingerly lifted it - millimetre by millimetre. I found it helped to run a scalpel along the edges first. Once the floor was up, the same technique was used for the dab glued ballast weight. The bodies snapped back easily - although it might be advisable to help them stay put with a dab of glue if you are likely to be handling them regularly. Overall, this reduced each van by 60 grams - a good saving on a rake. I look forward to the Outside Framed version! Brian
  18. Hello Nick A great pleasure to meet up with you, too! All the best and I look forward to following your progress. Brian
  19. Many thanks to all for a very enjoyable show! Brian
  20. Hello everyone Similar to above, according to Flightradar, the 07.15 LHR to Thessaloniki this morning was operated by a Finnair A320 as Speedbird 772. Brian
  21. Hello Glenn It has been in The Top 50 of The 00 Wishlist Poll since 2013 and was the overall top steam loco in 2022. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
