  1. Just a thought, the WR 1500 class panniers had outside valve gear and were short wheelbase, although I haven't looked them up. Also single slide bar, a bit of a departure from GWR traditions!
  2. Best way to run a car in my opinion, no big worries about trade in value or big repayments.
  3. Watched one in a banger race at Yarmouth a couple of weeks ago. I've no idea how, but when it was pushed sideways, or the driver overcooked it, the rear wheels folded flat under the car. I thought it was finished at that point but somehow restoring forward motion they came back upright and continued! This happened several times, something I've never seen before.
  4. Who's had the devil's fingers tattooed on his head, or is it a fancy head shave 🤔
  5. Like a cheese wire in a piece of bacon🤪 Better not describe the sight I got on a Skegness train not long after I started on the railway then.......
  6. There was one, I think, running on the NSMEE track at Ruddington a couple of weeks ago, just doubting my memory to be honest. Definitely a 37 running because it looked more like a scale model than the bigger class 47. Maybe they can point you in the right direction? https://nsmee.org.uk/
  7. I'm only going from Norfolk to the east Midlands, what I'm finding incredible is the almost total lack of coordinated information. Network rail app merely gives a bland 'services may be disrupted' otherwise it shows the normal service pattern in journey planners. It seems the TOCs may have briefed their local newspapers but, as far as I can find, nothing even to their front line staff! If those of us inside the industry can't easily find out what's going on, how the hell are mere passengers supposed to cope?
  8. Not to mention younger ones in hoodies and such like. Saw a bloke earlier coat and body warmer! Going to be interesting getting home on Tuesday, looking like if trains don't go to or from London they ain't going!
  9. You have to register to watch any BBC content now. Simply entering Brisca in the Youtube search box will bring up many results, both professionally created and amateur. If interested enough, the 2litre saloons are worth a look as well.
  10. Routine maintenance probably, it's also factored in when diagrams are drawn up.
  11. Another oldie, unseen for many years. Must be pretty rare.
  12. Apologies for the serious thread swerve but I found this after a short Google, to round up the current discussion. Somewhat out of date regarding the current scene, but straightens out the story, because both Wimbledon and Arena Essex closed several years ago.
  13. Many years ago, a promoter (Mike Parker possibly?) managed to organise a couple of showcase type F1 stock car meetings at the old Wembley stadium. There were a couple of races using tha same cars, possibly Ford Escorts, with the best drivers from, I think, 3 different short oval formulae. Stuart Smith, the BRISCA F1 driver won all the races, I think the Hot Rod driver was Barry Lee but I can't remember for certain. Long time ago
  14. He might not want you stuck to him🤡
  15. https://metro.co.uk/2022/07/13/sussex-escaped-pet-comes-back-hours-later-with-third-place-rosette-from-dog-show-16993642/
  16. Sherwood models in Nottingham has been around for something like 40 years now. The original owner opened on Sunday morning, long before Sunday trading became the norm, I used to have a run over there while the other half was at church, certainly when our son was small and possibly before he was born, he's 42 now by the way.
  17. Certainly likely to promote some heated debate, see what I did there 😉
  18. If it's anything like the last time I ran my Lima Deltic, it has quite a nice drone to it rather like the real things
  19. On my way home from work today, I think, a Renault Dauphine on a 1965 C plate. No picture as I was driving. Very long time since I saw one of those.
  20. Many years ago I was installing an alarm in the premises of a Ferrari bodywork specialist. There were several, little more than 5 years old imported from California, allegedly having hardly seen a cloud let alone rain, that looked like net curtains underneath the shiny paint.
